STILL THE GOAT! Serena Williams Reminds Us Why She's BIGGER Than Tennis After Losing Wimbledon Title + Meghan Markle Cheers Her On

UGHHHH! Serena Williams suffered a major upset after she was defeated by Romanian tennis player Simona Halep at Wimbledon, stopping her bid to win her 24th Grand Slam. Go inside to see how she handled the loss, plus flicks of her bestie Meghan Markle cheering her on in the stands inside...

Serena Williams just suffered a huge lost at Wimbledon, but she's STILL the GOAT!

The 37-year-old tennis star just lost in the ladies' singles championship match to Simona Halep, falling to the Romanian player 6-2,6-2 in the finals. Sucks.

If you didn't know, Rena is a 7-time Wimbledon champion, while the match marked Halep's very first Wimbledon win. For her third time since her return to tennis after having a baby, Williams was just one victory away from equaling Margaret Court's record of 24 Grand Slam singles titles. UGH!

We're super upset she fell short, however, Rena was a total class act following the match. Soon as she walked off the court, she thanked her team for their hard work, praised her opponents game, and said she was honored to play in front of her fans.

"She literally played out of her mind," Williams told the crowd. "Whenever a player plays that amazing you just have to take your hat off."

The tennis superstar has been short on matches due to a knee injury, but she told reporters her knee is actually feeling good and she's getting comfortable playing on it again.



By the way, Serena made history before the match even began. According to ESPN, Rena has reached at least one major final in 12 consecutive years, which is the second-longest streak by a woman in the Open era. Woot!

Serena's bestie Meghan Markle returned to Wimbledon to cheer her longtime friend on. You'll recall, the Duchess of Sussex stepped out to watch Serena play during round 2 of the tournament over a week ago.

The former "Suits"/new mom was joined by her sister-in-law Kate, Duchess of Cambridge.



During her post-game interview....

The tennis superstar was asked what she thinks about remarks that she should "stop fighting for equality and to just focus on tennis." She responded with THE most epic response ever:

"The day I stop fighting for equality and for the people who look like you and me will be the day I'm in my grave."
