DO WE LOVE IT: Aaliyah Ft. Drake "Enough Said"

Drake went and remixed one of Aaliyah's unreleased track and put his on verses on it. Check out "Enough Said" under the cut and decide if we love it...

A song from Drake (pictured above with the Aaliyah tattoo on his back) that's sure to get folks talking--one way or another--hit the net this evening.  He's said he wanted to do an entire Aaliyah project as he's been her #1 fan since forever.  And even though Timbaland said he and Missy need to be involved, Drake went ahead and released this track.

"Enough Said" is an unreleased track from Aaliyah, with Drake adding in some bars.  Decide if we love the Noah "40" Shebib-produced tack above.

DO WE LOVE IT?!

Drake's music is going down

Drake's music is going down anyway. What is he tying to do make back that money YMCM stole from him? Or is YMCM behind it all. Drake is done in my eyes.

I think this is wrong and I

I think this is wrong and I will not be buying NO more albulms from Drake. This is Greed.

This was largely unnecessary.

This was largely unnecessary.

My question to you all is

My question to you all is would anyone even care about what Tim/Missy would think had Tim not made a public statement about him feeling Drake should "wait on them"? I'm just trying to figure out why so many people always need to gain acceptance first. Drake is his own person and the only difference in him doing something like this versus someone covering an artist's song on YouTube, is that he had access to music by Aaliyah that hadn't been heard by the general public. I think the song sounds great. As far as others saying "this isn't Aaliyah's sound" "she wouldn't approve"...Artist continually re-define their sound and self image, no one simply stays one note (because that is uninteresting). Drake took a huge risk doing this, but I think he did it very well!

This was definitely HAWT!!!

This was definitely HAWT!!! All of yall hatin on Drake and what not are HATERS! He took a deceased singer and made a great song that is current and new. Timbaland needs to be slapped for saying "he and missy need to be apart of ths project." Kudos to Drake for a job well done and for being a man and not putting Timbaland and Missy on this!

Because of the economy many

Because of the economy many employers are now hiring work from home employees. This helps the employer save money on the overhead costs associated with employees. It has never been a better time to work from home than now. Learning how to work from home has never been easier. The holiday season are approaching and work from home employers are hiring agents. This is a great time to increase if not supplement your income. The truth about working from home is that it is not a get rich quick scheme. The people that work from home have real jobs and hold contracts with companies. I know this because I’ve been working from home for over ten years and have been showing people how to obtain work from home jobs. I have put everything you need to know about working from home, the companies that hire work from home employees and why working from home is currently in demand in the new book “Job’s For Today’s Economy”, the work from home manual. Wack! All of Miss Drake's

Wack! All of Miss Drake's music is starting to sound the same...tired of it. Throwing Aaliyah's vocals on this track didn't help. I was never a big fan of Aaliyah anyway, although she had a few songs that I LOVED. Rock The Boat, One In A Million, and I Care 4 U.

I know Timberland and Missy

I know Timberland and Missy are HOT! Aaliyah's vocals sound great, but this is not her sound. The music sounds cheap and quietly, Drake's wack rappin ruins it. Missy and Tim would have killed this for Drake had he waited.

People really big up Aaliyah

People really big up Aaliyah like she was this huge artist when she was alive. I am sorry, like Marilyn Monroe she was not praised until her death. People have said for years she would be as huge as so and so...to be honest most of the girls were much more popular than Aaliyah..Monica, Brandy, Xscape, Destiny's child, Britney Spears. You all are bandwagon Aaliyah fans!
marylou's picture

If you wasn't into the Music

If you wasn't into the Music of that era you truly cannot comment on her career. Aaliyah was Platinum out the gate. Very young (14) with a very adult style thanks to R. Kelly... She basically forfeited the little kid audience. Every Album got better and better. Most artist would say they would rather grow as their careers move forward than peak at their first album. Thats the path she was on. Early on despite competing with some of likes you mentioned; Brandy ( R&B's #1 little sweetheart) & Monica. Those were the child stars... The Queen of Hip-Hop/R&B Mary J. Blige, Toni Braxton. The Legendary Mariah Carey & Janet Jackson. Groups like Xscape & SWV were all Platinum selling artist some of which were mega-stars but Aaliyah was still doing her thing and her singles were killing the charts with mulitple top 10's... She never sold sex visually, created her own lane and had her own sound and style. Every Album was Multi-Platinum and better than the previous Album. She went at her own pace but was always relevant. Her acting career was about to explode... Anyone that was really into music at that time knows despite the sales she was becoming a bigger star than most of the artists I mentioned earlier. After being cast in the Matrix who knows were that would have lead her career... She sold 20+ Million Albums not including the soundtracks she dominated and she took long breaks in her short lifetime. I truly believe she would have been as big as they get given the opportunity. With that said, I thank Drake for helping to keep her voice alive, but I think with what she meant to so many fans and the quality of her work. He should have come a lot better than that very typical and below average verse of his... Not to mention 40's incomplete on purpose sounding production was not up to par with what us "Old Heads" have come accustomed to hearing Aaliyah's soft angelic voice over... IMO this song was a poor representation of what Aaliyah would have put out if she was still alive... Rant Over... 1
MizzacNYC's picture

How old are you? That's what

How old are you? That's what I'm trying to figure out because what you just said doesn't make complete sense to me. Monica had been phased out since her "Just One of Those Day's" hit and kind of regained strength after her feature on Brandy's "The Boy is Mine" but that's about it. Brandy was indeed America's sweetheart, so I agree that she was more popular. Xscape were on the verge of losing relevance/had already lost it. Destiny's Child were popular but how do you compare an individual artist to a band. Britney was queen of pop so that's a different genre. Aaliyah was just about to release A., had a movie coming out, new video, and other projects lined up. I'm a firm believer that had she not died, Beyonce may have not have gotten as much shine as she did. But her leaving DC and becoming an individual artist was perfect timing and clever. It just bothered me that you felt she wasn't a huge artist while she was living. To me she had finally made it and died at the pinnacle of her music career.
SweetCali's picture

Aaliyah is after my time,

Aaliyah is after my time, which speaks for age. There goes the argument that Beyonce would not be as relevant as she was if Aaliyah was alive...Ashanti, Ciara, Janet Jackson, etc. all did the exact same thing that Aaliyah was doing & Beyonce still was reigning. People like to throw around the argument Britney Spears, Brandy, and Beyonce would not have gone as far as they have gone holds no merit. These women were running the charts during Aaliyah's time. I am an Aaliyah fan( through and through) but I will be realistic in saying she was not a huge artist prior to her passing. "We need a resolution" was not making any impact during 2001 and her biggest hit had just came out after 7 years "Try Again", which was her only number one. If we are going to make an argument on who would be popular, do not list Beyonce, Britney Spears, and Brandy because those girls were huge prior to the passing of Aaliyah.
marylou's picture

Are you kidding me? I can

Are you kidding me? I can tell that you're young. Aaliyah's album came out a month before her death in July of 2001. "We Need A Resolution" was a hot single that debuted from that album. She hadn't released an album since 1997, because she came from an era when artists didn't release an album every year. Beyonce emerged as a star, star from DC around about 2000 from their 1999 album and she skyrocketed after the 2001 "Survivor" album. Britany came out in 1998 and emerged as a star between around 1999-2000 as she was building her name. Both Beyonce and Britany became major stars around the 99-2000 mark. I was a DC fanatic back when they came out. Aaliyah was already a household name and had been for years, off of two albums. Then she had the "Romeo Must Die" soundtrack that she dominated with a great songs. BTW, Destiny's Child was on that album as well and they were just bursting out into stardom from "TWOTW" album. Her impact on music was incredible. She ushered in a new style of music. "One In A Million," was listed as one of the greatest 100 albums of all time. You need to get your history right. Many have tried, but there has never been an artist with her swagger, grace and style. Her music is timeless. I can play any Aaliyah song from her last album and it would fit in with today's album. The album was critically acclaimed before she passed.
Tagirl27's picture

If you want to say that I am

If you want to say that I am young to make yourself feel more relevant, please by all means call me 14 years old! LOL! People on blogs. Lets run this back for those of you who have selective memory. In the 90s releasing albums back to back was the thing to do. Mariah Carey, Madonna, Cher, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson( probably all prior to your time) released an album every year. If we are arguing on the basis of Beyonce, which would make this an irrelevant argument seeing as she wasn't a solo artist until 2003. But, for argument sakes...Destiny's Child had a platinum album in 1998, in 1999 released "The Writings on The wall", and by 2001 solidified themselves as a group. For those of you who forget that "No No No" was not destiny's child's only hit in 1997, "With You" was a top 5 single. Let us not forget Aaliyah didn't have a Number one single until 99-00 "try again". Aaliyah was a household name in African American homes, but globally she was not a star. Sorry to burst your bubble sweetie. But when you are talking globally Destiny's Child and Britney Spears triumphed Aaliyah in every way. I could care less what was listed as "100 greatest albums" because if that's the case Destiny's Child has 2 and Beyonce has 2...Are you really going to be delusional to think this girl was huge prior to her passing? I am from Brooklyn, same as Aaliyah, and we adore her...But, to call her anything of legendary is ridiculous. Blacks know all of Aaliyah's songs...Ask a caucasian to recall any Aaliyah song without assistance...Do the same for Destiny's Child....There you have it. Argument is void!
marylou's picture

I don't know where you're

I don't know where you're from but Aaliyah was THE HOTTEST in the game for awhile before she past. Matter of fact shewas hotter the 3 talents you mention. I'd hardly call us bandwagon fans. I was huge Monica fan too. So I'm very familiar with the time when they all were out. Aaliyah was the ish and she actually did better than all the ladies mentioned when she was alive....Please check the sales of 1 in a Million. Bandwagon Fans.....#chileplease
Anonymously Speaking's picture

You honestly believe Aaliyah

You honestly believe Aaliyah was the larger star out of Britney Spears, Destiny's Child(Beyonce), Brandy, and Monica before her passing? We won't even talk about afterwards because the other women have done better & Aaliyah isn't here to stamp her name. But, let's recall young one. Britney Spears had sold 1 million records in a week during 1999 and had 3 number ones...Monica and Brandy had the longest running #1 by 1998, Destiny's Child had 3 number ones and were number one at the time of Aaliyah's passing...Not to mention their album "Writings on the Wall" had just sold 16 million copies....Really, you are what we call a bandwagon fan. I have purchased every Aaliyah album from 94' on. She was hot, but not what everyone is giving her!
marylou's picture

lol. "The Writing's On The

lol. "The Writing's On The Wall" did not sale 15mil out the gate, but over time. In 1998, DC had the one single that put their name out there "No,no,no." The rest of that album wasn't good. You have no idea the historical impact that Aaliyah had on the music. Nobody was doing what she was doing. She was a game changer. Her impact surpasses record sales(although she sold records too). Brandy's second album was an instant classic. Period. But so was Aaliyah's. The albums were night and day because they came at you with two different styles. Monica's second album, as much I love Monica, wasn't in the same league as theirs. All 3 had great first albums. Brandy became a bigger star because of her acting(which Aaliyah got into later). She was doing a lot of firsts. She's one of the top 25 child stars of all time. But, that didn't negate Aaliyah's star power and nobody's making it up. But if you're not at least 28 years old(at the minimum,) I can't take you seriously on this topic. Just be a teenager when they were teens and to experience their impact firsthand, you have to have had that experience to know Aaliyah's impact.
Tagirl27's picture

Aaliyah was absolutely the

Aaliyah was absolutely the larger star out of all those ladies...I too have EVERY album Aaliyah has out...I have 1 in a million twice. At the time of Aaliyah's passing, she already had a well established singing career. She was the it chick of her time. Britney Spears shouldn't even be in this conversation because she and Aaliyah are not in the same genre by far...Beyonce and Destiny's Child was lukewarm and didn't even start to take off until after the fact. When DC started to take off Aaliyah had already went on to doing movies...a move all these ladies would have killed to have done at that particular time. And trust there no bandwagon over here, I was a die hard Aaliyah fan back then and I am one now...Im not discrediting these other artist that you speak of but but yes Aaliyah was definitely at the top of her game before her passing! She actually helped paved the way for Beyonce and DC...Monica and Brandy were hot for a while but even then there music wasn't consistent...Aaliyah was in a league of her own...She was hotter than fish grease when she was alive and her music is still hotter than most relevant artist in the game today.
Anonymously Speaking's picture

This thread is hilarious. I

This thread is hilarious. I agree with Marylou. I am definitely an Aaliyah fan and I followed every album. She was big TO ME at the time of her passing, but globally, she wasn't to that level of super stardom. She may have grown, had she had the opportunity to grow and make more music, but I have to say that she was never as good of a singer as Brandy, Mariah, and Beyonce.
blynne23's picture

I also agree with marlou.

I also agree with marlou. Baby girl was a great R&B artist but she had not crossed over. I'm from California and back then, you couldn't get away from Britney Spears or Brandy's music on the radio. Only urban stations played Aliyah. I have no idea what she COULD HAVE been, but at the time of her passing she was major in only the hip hop/R&B community
Onyx's picture

You're right! Those other

You're right! Those other chicas were more popular, but the truth is popularity means something for only a decade or less. Aaliyah had longevity. Her body of work literally tells the story of a little girl becoming a woman and the experiences that come with it. And that's why so many ppl believe she would of been better than Beyonce (fcks wit her tho). Like Miss St. Nicki....she's popular...but she's no legend....mostly everyone sees she has no longevity (until proven otherwise)
Love it Hate it's picture

Uh, Aaliyah, Brandy & Monica

Uh, Aaliyah, Brandy & Monica were 3 different artists that came out around the same time who each had an audience. All 3 were successful. Aaliyah and Brandy had classic second albums, plus classic songs from their first albums that everyone remembers. She was bigger than Xscape, before Destiny's Child (who didn't really blow up til their second album between 1999 and 2000). As far as Britany, you're talking about two different artists. One's pop, one's r&b and hip-hop. So, yeah, that's that. And not only did Aaliyah have the music thing going on but she was scheduled to do many big movies at the time of her death. She was going to do "Sparkle." Her star was about explode. She had a lot of things on the table. So, don't know where you get the bandwagon fans from.
Tagirl27's picture

I am TRUE Aaliyah fan and can

I am TRUE Aaliyah fan and can only speak for myself but Aaliyah was right on the cusp of greatness. She was becoming GLOBALLY known as an actress as well as artist. She had the charisma and sex appeal that only a handful of female artist have today. We all "most of us" feel like Beyonce is the queen of R&B, she has sold multi platinum albums and was in an Acadamy award winning film. Had she died 10 years ago, we wouldn't be able to say that. We can't say Aaliyah WOULD have won a ton of Grammys or had a couple Oscars under her belt, all we have is the music that she has left behind and trust me her "old" records are better than Rihanna, Ciara, Keri Hilson and most of the "R&B" chicks records out here on their BEST RECORDING day.

Who in Drake's entourage

Who in Drake's entourage encourages Drake to get such sissy tat's??? I understand Drake is a sensitive thug but how can you be bussin' dudes in the club with champagne bottles when you got an owl and an R&B singer face tatted on your back and it doesn't help he is bright yellow!! I love Drake and I love Aaliyah but I feel like this one-sided collabo is going to do more harm than good. This is NOT the Aaliyah we remember and if she were alive today she would most likely NOT even work with Drake, if anything she would probably have a restraining order against his crazy obsessed a$$. The idea was great but Drake needs to take an L on this project, there are plenty of R&B singers out there itchin for their next check (Amerie, K. Michelle, Ci-Error, Keri Hilson, Tweet...) perhaps he can blow the dust off their vocal cords and collaborate with them. Love you Drake, R.I.P. Babygirl

I never remember Aaliyah

I never remember Aaliyah having profanity on her music. SMH! Sickening.

I've never known her to be

I've never known her to be into really hood music with a bunch of cursing. Say what you want fan or not it's inappropriate and money hungry. This has noting to do with being a fan. If you were a true fan. You would have just sampled a beat. People need to leave dead people alone. Whatever happened to just sampling a beat. A legacy is just that a legacy, By Drake featuring himself on her song without her permission he is reintroducing her to the new generation from his own vision. That’s unfair, but hey its the music industry it doesn’t matter they can do what they want. Because he’s a FAN, right! Maybe Frank Ocean should do a duet with one of Drake’s unreleased songs tilted “this is why my knees are bruised” NO disrespect to Frank Ocean.

Aaliyah NEVER had a rapper featured on her albums that cursed and I never once heard a song she was a featured on use so much profanity or some many F-words. It wasn't her style at all and it was just disrespectful for him to do that to her music. The most foul language I heard her featured with was Timbaland & Magoo's Up Jumps Da' Boogie but even they didnt curse like that.
