Jennifer Hudson Gets STARRY, Dishes On Her Pampers' LULLABY & Her Summer Playlist

Jennifer Hudson just put a soulful spin on a classic lullaby for Pampers for little babies around the world. Get the deets inside and find out who's on her summer playlist....

Jennifer Hudson, who is pictured rocking a sheer star-printed Equipment blouse after her "Good Morning America" appearance today, spoke with The BoomBox about the Pampers project. The mom of little David, Jr. recreated "Brahms' Lullaby" for the diaper company and the track will be available as a free download on the Pampers Facebook page.

The company is also donating $100,000 to the Julian D. King Gift Foundation, the charity Jenny and her sister Julia created in honor of her slain nephew.

She described her recording saying,

"The sweetest, lovable, loving and soothing and happy all in one song. I wanted it to feel good, too. Sometimes lullabies kind of feel like Christmas songs. I still want to keep that same spirit, still where it's like soothing. That song where you can just play, because when my baby was born, I would play jazz music and light candles and hold him around the house until he would fall asleep. And I want to bottle it all up into this and have that moment where you have a special moment with your child but still when that song ends, that baby's asleep. That's the little gift and the treat that the moms get. Like, "Whew, I get a break" [laughs]."

She added that being a mom herself definitely helped:

"I'm sure other moms will get that, that bond, that specialness, whether you sing or not, that you can hum to your child, that moment. When my baby was first born, like now I can't sleep without him. When I'm away from him, I can't sleep because he's not here. So when he was a baby in the middle of the night, nobody's getting up but mom. I don't care if you have a nanny or not, only mom is getting up in the middle of the night. But those are the moments I cherish the most, and that to me is what "Lullaby" gives, that moment."

She later revealed that Whitney Houston's "I Want To Dance With Somebody," "Domino" by Jessie J. and Drake & Rihanna's "Take Care" are high on her Summer playlist. Loves it.

J-Hud is a great singer, but

J-Hud is a great singer, but I agree with the others. She never truly had that "it" factor. Signing up with Weight Watchers didn't help because now she's known as the girl who lost all that weight. Maybe she needs to go with different producers and a different marketing team. She's got that talent. She just needs a team/production upgrade.

I disagree with most who say

I disagree with most who say that because she does not have sex appeal she will never make it in the music biz. Jill Scott, Badu or even Faith Evan were no damn beauty queens but they had amazing music that took u beyond the physical image. Scott & Badu continue to fill up arenas in ATl just based on their first 2 CD's. If JHud get some hits like Cheryl Lynns "Got to be Real" Jocelyn Brown "Somebody Else's Guy" which are both up tempo songs that showcase powerhouse vocals, no one would care less about sex appeal. JHud need to get rid of that old azz mgmt team lead by Clive Davis. He had his time but his music that he is bringing to the table is too old for her.

Jennifer Hudson has chops. As we all know, talent is only part of the formula for being successful in the industry. The songs Jennifer sings are for my mother's demographic aka the demographic who doesn't own iPods and won't buy CDs unless they ask their adult children to pick them up from the store. Jennifer Hudson never had that "it" factor. She isn't pretty. She seems nice, but she isn't that beautiful woman you cannot take your eyes off of. She doesn't hold your attention. She doesn't have that swag that she should have not being the beauty that you wish she was. She is boring. I don't associate her with music. I associate her with weight loss and the tragedy that happened to her mother, brother and nephew, which makes her situation even more of one that I don't want to pay attention to. Not trying to be Queen Critic and not suggesting Jennifer needs to perform stunts in order to be the chart topping artist she may aspire to be, but she isn't the total package. She is, however, the total bore. Brandy wasn't the cutest girl in the world, but she had the right songs, voice and image. Brandy was marketed well. The machine behind Brandy knew how to be impactful. Moesha helped her star rise. She kept herself in shape, ditched her braids and found her inner sexy. Brandy is still one of my favorite modern vocalists because she consistently hits the nail on the head. I really wish Jennifer had that capability. She deserves better.

I do believe she does have BETTER musical taste than Jennifer has. Brandy 100% hands down has better taste in music than J-Hud does. The evidence is in some of her past albums that went unnoticed. The girl can pick good songs. Brandy messed up somewhere down the line. Getting Pregnant and Lying about being married. The Accident and Lawsuits may have been her undoing. I truly believe she went wrong somewhere. At this point in her life she should be farther along than she is. Her statis took a tumble. SHE FELL OFF! Sorry but it is true. Singer's like Brandy and Toni Braxton did not have great voices like Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey or Christina Aguilera had but what I will applaud about them is their ability to recognize and choose good music for themselves. Jennifer on the other hand IMHO has an old lady loud church lady sounding voice and on top of that she does not have an ear for good music. What also sets J-Hud from Brandy is J-Hud has old lady swag and Brandy does not. Toni B was not what I called a beautiful woman but she knew how make herself look very nice and she had lots of sex appeal. Along w/ good music. You are so right I only associate Jennifer w/ weight loss which is good and the tragedy she suffered which is sad. She has no sex appeal what- so- ever! The fact that I do not like her voice or her type of old lady swag musical taste don't help matters none. The fact that she is so unattractive to me. I have no real need for her. I am not drawn to her at all. This is why she does not sell records. I wish her well in her movie career but as far as a singer goes. Her voice and bad musical taste does nothing for me. I can say at least I bought her first album FOR MY MOM because she wanted it! By the way Brandy's first song off her new album sounds good. I wish her well!

Jennifer has shown me that success isn't always measured only by the very thing you are suppossed to be known for. So many other doors have opened up for her, that I don't think she is worried about having the beauty that you say eludes her. She will be successful for a long time. Sure Brandy may have been branded well as you say, but if I remember correctly, she couldn't dance, couldn't sell an arena, and was super boring live...and to top it all off...Brandy is only slightly more visually palatable, than she was in the past...and I place a huge emphasis on slightly. IMHO, she didn't even reach the status of say, Rihanna...for her to have "been marketed well, and we all know that Rihanna can't dance or really sing that well.

chile please, jen is an academy award winning actress. she's getting plenty of exposure in main stream media and black media/blogs. and she's not working nearly as hard (oversexual/raunchy/degrading) as bey and rhi. apparently having more talent than beauty still pays off in this generation. don't get me wrong...jennifer is beautiful too. also bey seems to have toned down the oversexed, raunchy image since she became a mum.

What a wasted talent. She has the best pipes in the industry and it's being wasted on commercials. Both previous cd's were pure garbage & very forgettable. Most Divas of the past spend their entire career chasing the success with their 1st or 2nd cd but JHud is still reaching for "THAT" cd. Is it that heard to find producers who are actually musicians that can deliver her a few big hits? Jen should be the Chaka of this generation but has not had 1 hit song. 30yrs later we are still singing I'm Every woman & Sweet Thang. In the mean time she has to hustle products to pay for that mansion she just bought.

I agree that JHud is not getting the exposure and the promotional support from her label to create the kind of buzz that sells cds. Ist not that her cds were garbage. Its as good or better than most out there. Its that the record labels uses radio stations, social sites and blogs to tell you what you will love and buy. Dont think that you thought on your own that Bey and Jay are the greatest of them all. That was fed to you and you ate it and swallowed it. Now you believe it, so much more than others. **When I say you I am talking the music buying public** No one has done this for Jennifer so she continues to fade to novelty status. Dang shame. She is something else too.

What if she was happy with

What if she was happy with the career she already has. She has an Oscar, golden globe a star on the hall of fame. Not everyone is obsessed with solding out arenas or only hanging out with a list stars. She is never happier than when she's with her son and fiance and doesn't look like someone who wants more. I love her but she is happy the way her life and she didn't need to sell her soul or being half naked to be where she's now. I would rather have her career than beyonce's. At least she has a regular life, will never have to hide her child for fear or assault or have to be put on a pedestal.
