R.I.P. Rodney King DEAD At 47

Police brutality victim Rodney King was found dead this morning. He was 47. Details inside......

Rodney King, who became a household name after a 1991 beating at the hands of LAPD went national, has died. The 47-year-old was found dead at the bottom of a pool this morning by his fiancee Cynthia Kelley.

Rodney will also be remembered for his impassioned plea during the L.A. Riots when he said, "People, I just want to say, can we all get along? Can we get along?"

Law enforcement told TMZ that they are opening a drowning investigation. There does seem to be more to this story either way. A very sad ending to this story.............R.I.P. Rodney.

*UPDATE* TMZ reports that--according to Rodney's fiancee's Cynthia Kelly--Rodney was drinking and smoking before being found naked in the pool:

According to our sources, King's fiancée, Cynthia Kelley, is telling friends King was at the house all day drinking, and he smoked marijuana at some point, before she went to went to bed at 2:00 AM.

We're told Kelley says she next saw King at around 5:00 AM when she was awoken by him screaming in the backyard. Our sources say Kelley found King naked, banging on the glass, and she called out to him, "What's wrong, Rodney?"

Kelley is telling friends she then went to grab her phone when she heard a big splash. She then went to the backyard and discovered him in the bottom of the pool and called police.

Whatever happened to Rodney

Whatever happened to Rodney King on that fateful morning suspicious or not his death will be ruled an accidental drowning by the coroners office and any illegal substances found in his system will be found to be the culprit. His fiance or whoever she was will not be blamed for his death are you kidding me, even if she had saved him from himself this time, who's to say he wouldn't have died from something else preventable next week?? Reality is he was a troubled man from the very beginning and when he was Violated by LAPD and became the Poster Man for Racist Cops all across America that just magnified his downward spiral he was already trapped in and it still wasn't enough for him to get his act together. This man was awarded 3.8 million dollars for being abused and put on display like a Hunted Slave Kicked in the head,Beat and Punched wearing a NOOSE all while the world watched, but still "NEVER" received any real justice to make him feel whole and human again. In this life we have to learn to take care of ourselves you can't expect others to be responsible for you when you are out of control. Would someone else have done more? Maybe so,but it's also like the little boy who cried wolf to many times and you get sick & tired of a perpetual, destructive behavior and one day you totally decide to completely ignore it then something like this happens! This woman may have felt that way or was probably just another person in a long list of people who were hanging around Rodney King just to get any fame or notoriety off of his unusual circumstances and to help him finish spending his settlement money if there was any left to spend.... Good news is,all his troubles and worries are GONE!

Such a tragic loss. I will hold off on suspicions of foul play until reports are conclusive. I do find it eerily coincidental that he died in such a time when America must re-examine and discuss race relations and racism, as a result of the Trayvon Martin case. Sadly I say, RIP.

When I first heard the news I was thinking it was a rumor, but in hearing the details, it just doesn't make much sense. If he was that belligerent, walking around outside naked, then why as his fiance would you not try to calm him down, get him to come inside or just call the police. But to say you were awakened by a loud splash and found him at the bottom of the pool .. huh .. dont dead bodies float? So many questions that we'll probably never know the answers too. However, I thank Rodney for his contributions to history in bringing attention to the corruption with police brutality. RIP

Soooo, you wake up at 5am to find your fiance (who had been drinking ALLL day) not laying in bed beside you but screaming in the backyard, butt naked and banging on the glass. Instead of rushing downstairs to check on your fiance (who had been drinking ALLL day), you start looking around for your cell phone. You then hear a splash in the pool, which clearly has to be your fiance (who had been drinking ALLL day) and you mosey yourself outside to find him in the bottom of the pool. Rather than jumping in or grabbing something (like, that long stick that ppl with pools should have) to at least TRY to fish him out and initiate CPR, you call the police and just hang out there until they arrive while your fiance (who had been drinking ALLL day) floats at the bottom of the pool. 0_o
