Pastor Creflo Dollar released a statement about his arrest earlier today regarding his alleged assault on his 15-year-old daughter. Read it inside....

We told you earlier about the arrest of Creflo Dollar, Jr., the pastor of World Changers Church in College Park (outside of Atlanta). Now the leader is speaking out. He released a statement through his rep saying,

As a father I love my children and I always have their best interest at heart at all times, and I would never use my hand to ever cause bodily harm to my children. The facts in this case will be handled privately to further protect my children. My family thanks you for your prayers and continued support.

His lawyer, Nikki G. Bonner, added, "My client will make no further comments as this is an ongoing criminal matter."

Other races do whip their

Other races do whip their kids. In college, I was a part of a Bible study group of mostly white kids, and one day we were all sitting around talking about some of the things we did growing up and how are parents disciplined us. All of those white kids got whippings. I was shocked when I heard them talking about the whippings they got. Like you, I thought only black parents whipped their kids. But, they had been whipped with switches, belts, shoes, etc.

I used to think other races didn't spank until I moved to the South, I saw a white lady whip her child at a grocery store and a white man whip his son at the bus stop, I was so shocked.

I can only speculate. However, I think it's fair to say that if I took a survey of differing races asking if corporal punishment should be tolerated, I suspect there would be a large showing of support from the black community in comparison to other races in this country. I admit to not fully understanding what drives this. I don't understand how so many young, black females came out in support of Chris Brown after his controversy. It's almost like a brainwashed sort of self imprisonment.

To Anonymous suggestion: Exactly how many teenagers have you raised? I find that the most judgmental pol have little or no experience with the matter at hand. As a mother of a two, one is a 15 yr old son, I believe that you never know how you'll handle your kids until put in That situation. As parents none of us are perfect. All we can do is make the best choice with our kids in mind. Kids have gotten the way they are Because of a bunch of no kids having, know-it all's have dipped their noses into other people's family issues, no matter how well intended. Wait to hear the whole story!

Your point is well taken, it is hard to know how one will react until actually being put into that situations. I do however ask that we consider taking a closer look at the warning signs. That is the ideal time to get a child psychologist involved. Kids can be cruel. I have read too many articles concerning kids who committed suicide due to being bullied in school. I believe he loves his child. I also believe he was never taught any better.

The girl told the police that her dad had previously (weeks ago) told her she could not go to the party because of her grades. So this was not a "same night-can I go to the party thing" this escalated right up to the day of the party. In her 15 year old mind, she was going to show her dad that she was going to the party whether he liked it or not. She told the police that mom was in a different room of the house when it all went down. Big sister ran to get mom after dad threw her (the 15 year old) to the floor.

I'm not condoning whooping or beating children...I think it's wrong. But, so is calling the police on someone and expecting to continue to live in their house. Like, he's going have to deal with that case...for real...that's not going away. You do have to put teach your kids early that your rules are THE RULES...no questions, debating or discussions allowed. otherwise, you get spoiled tantrums and then you reflect back to when your mother or father back handed you out of your chair for talking reckless to them. just sayin. I agree with you to a certain extent. In most cases the police will back the parents up. The teenager will quickly understand there is a line in the sand that they can not cross. But you are right, likely, the issues will not stop there. I strongly suggest scheduling the teenager an appointment with a child psychologist. There may be issues taking place that the parent is unaware of. If the parent does not have health insurance which covers mental health services, get in contact with your local mental health agencies. Many provide you counseling services based on what the parent can afford or sometimes at no cost at all.

If we teach our children that violence is the answer to solving issues then we should not then be surprised when they grow up to handle difficult situations in a similar manner. If we teach our children to deal with harsh situations through conversation, mediation, and other techniques, we can expect them to grow up to handle harsh situations in a similar manner. these kids are out of control. whatever happened obviously did bc a child defied a parent. I'm sure he wasn't killing her but who knows in her defiance it could've been necessary to restrain her. the point is she knows she was being rebellious and she knows her dad reacted the way a concerned father would. she is upset with her dad & manipulating the system calling the law on her father bringing the scrutiny of authorities in her family. "Rod of correction" as in a tool made out of corrective measures. No where in that does it say to physically discipline your child in any measure. The term "rod" is metaphorical as is most of the Bible. Though this lack of knowledge sure seems to be strong and ever present.
