Lauryn Hill DENIES Being Nicki Minaj's Summer Jam "Special Guest", Hits The Stage With Nas

Lauryn Hill made a surprise appearance at Summer Jam 2012 over the weekend. See pics and video inside and find out what L Boogie said about never being scheduled to perform with Nicki Minaj.

While rap icon Lauryn Hill was said to be performing with Nicki Minaj (according to Nicki's tweets( during Summer Jam 2012 before her cancellation, Lauryn actually hit the stage with Nas during his set. She took the crowd through verses of “Ready or Not," and “Lost Ones” before ending with Nas on “If I Ruled the World.”

And when asked about performing with Nicki....Lauryn was just as surprised as anyone else since she never had plans to do so! But she did say she respected Nicki's decision to not perform.

She posted to her twitter today,

No disrespect to Nicki, but I need to clear up an inaccuracy. I was not scheduled to be a special guest on her set at Summer Jam, I was invited by Nas to perform with him. I don't have details on exactly what transpired between the station and the artists, but I do support artists standing by their beliefs, and walking with integrity. We have to find a better way to commercially exploit music, while giving artists their proper respect. This cannot be done while taking their contributions for granted, or trying to control the scope of their growth and power through threats and fear tactics. We can do better than this, there is a better way, or else 'we' (the proverbial we) find ourselves in danger of being hypocrites!!!

She was USED in this situation and now she's at fault because SHE was being treated poorly by employees at the station? As black people we barely support our artists. Nicki also lied a while ago when the beef with Kim was at its height.. She said she spoke to Foxy and foxy asked her why does she keep giving Kim props, "kim dont even like you".. And she said that she told Foxy in response that she was going to keep giving props to Kim until she hears something from her. After Nicki said all of that Foxy tweeted that that conversation never happened.. So she made up a whole exchange. Amongst other things.
