Whitney Houston's recording of "His Eye Is On The Sparrow" has been released from the Sparkle film (August 17). Listen to it inside....

On the heels of the "Celebration" release, Whitney Houston's remake of "His Eye Is On The Sparrow" from Sparkle has been released and you can still hear the power in her voice.

It's not all the way vintage Whitney but "the gift" was still there.

To the person trying to compare Whitney and El's voices.. please don't. El was a binge drug user and went years without touching the stuff. Whitney however was a chronic user which means she damn near smoked it everyday for 17 years. Also; Whitney smoked cigarettes since she was 16. I personally think the combination of the two did her voice in. I still supported her until the very end.

I wish I could hear the gift

I wish I could hear the gift you heard. I went to an NE concert recently for which El Debarge was the opening act and he killed it. His falsetto is as pristine as the day he came on the scene. I just don't get why Whitney totally lost her gift to the point that I can sing better than her.

This reminds me of one of

This reminds me of one of Billie Holiday's last recordings. She sang her song; and when she heard it back she cried because her voice was a distant memory of what it once was. However; years later after her death people appreciated the weathered tone in her voice and declared it a masterpiece. Gone is the perfect pitch and power of Whitney's prime; but here she is singing for the Lord sounding really strong compared to her last tour. SMH. RIP.

Holding back tears....so sad. Jordin Sparks did a wonderful job with her tribute on the Billboard Awards. As a TRUE Whitney fan I can say her voice did change but in between the sour notes you can STILL hear the gift. #RIPWHITNEY

Referring to it as being"...not all the way vintage Whitney but "the gift" was still there," is a disgrace for anyone who has NEVER been the calibre of singer she was, not even on her "worst" day. Take a voice lesson or couple hundred before opening your disrespectful mouth. How dare you?! Through all of her trials, tribulations and vocal nodule issues, which is very difficult to overcome, if ever. The line has to be drawn somewhere. Her voice will never be duplicated, PERIOD! I must in apologize in advance for any typos, errors or otherwise, but I couldn't control the speed of my fingers on this I pad which I hardly ever use! God Bless her soul and even the fool who wrote this in regard to our Dear Sweet Whitney Houston.

i think whitney wanted love

i think whitney wanted love and companionship more than anything. more than fame, because according to chaka kahn on pierce morgan, whitney could have gotten an operation to fix her voice, but refuse to get it done. and when she was on oprah, she talked about how she made enough money, and wasn't thinking about singing, how she told a reporter, she wanted to go to an island and run a juice stand. she clearly wasn't happy with her fame. and just wanted to be loved. what a tragedy.
