The BOYCOTT Of Evelyn Lozada & The "Basketball Wives" Is ON!

Folks are absolutely fed up with the utter foolywangery that is VH1's "Basketball Wives."  It only took 4 seasons for that to happen.  Yet and still, a petition has popped up to boycott cast member Evelyn Lozada's new spinoff show....and Star Jones is gathering up support of powerful women to get the show and its often embarrassing antics stopped.

Deets inside...

Evelyn and her assistant Nia Crooks ganging up on co-star Jennifer Williams this season seems to have been the straw that broke the slaphappy camel's back.  Because folks are more up in arms than ever at the antics of the grown women on this show.  From jumping on tables just to get a lick in on another female to throwing glass in the face of another to may-jah curse-your-ass-out arguments, it's a lot going on "Basketball Wives" these days.

An excerpt from an online petition that is now circulating (check it out in full HERE) reads:

“Evelyn Lozada is a bully. The violence on ‘Basketball Wives’ is horrible and disgraceful.  This is not a hate petition against Eveyln Lozada. We simply will not support violence. It hurts to see violence amongst women on television for entertainment purposes. It is not OK for women to hit each other on TV.

Just about every altercation and argument on the show has involved Evelyn in some way, shape or form. From the yelling match on the season 4 premier against her former bestie, Jen, to the table climbing and hair pulling in the last couple of episodes, the woman has a problem for reals."

Ha!  The petition also asks viewers to call and write Viacom in order to stop the release of "Ev & Ocho," Evelyn's spinoff show with fiance Chad OchoCinco.

Meanwhile, former "The View" co-host Star Jones went on a twitter rant reading these chicks.  Which we assume would include her ex-hubby, Al Reynolds, who appeared on several episodes as the girls' bestie.  *eyebrow raised*

She popped off this week saying:

“It may be ‘comfortable’ to be quiet when women of color slap the crap out of each other & run across tables barefoot, but #ENOUGHisENOUGH."

“About to put together a group of sisters to finally ‘tell the truth’ about the image of women of color in the media.”

She continued:

"And the thought that the woman from #BBW who was smacked doesn't have the RIGHT to file assault charges is LUDICROUS! You NEVER give up your right not to have your ‘person’ intentionally assaulted unless you are participating in an agreed physical activity.

…little black girls deserve more than what we're giving! It sickens me @lov3lylina85 when young sis think that behavior is acceptable. U can't get a REAL JOB acting like an animal."

So...who's getting their virtual picket signs ready for the fight?  Any takers?

With all the bullying that

With all the bullying that goes on in schools today, I think ALL of these types of shows should be boycotted. I hear Chrissy and Jim are getting their own show, and in my opinion, she is a bigger bully than Evelyn. I think instead of making the petition personal toward just Evelyn, a petition to boycott Viacom/VH1 should be started to let them know we are tired of being portrayed in such a manner. How do we ever expect children to show respect toward one another, when they see adults behaving this way....

I think the examples they are

I think the examples they are putting out there is BS. Black women are already labeled "violent" and it sickens me to see the ignorance of these women. They have children and some of them have the nerve to have non profit organizations for young women. How can you set an example for your brand when your always in drama. As for Evelyn..I think she is a pathetic excuse for a women. The fact tht you have a child in college but your behaving like a high school girl is ridiculous. I have refused to watch this show this season because of the previews I have seen and the things I see on Twitter. We are WOMEN, not animals. No matter the race, we still have to show a level of respect and practice what we preach when teaching our children. I think BBW should be named Bad Girls Club for grown a** women. I applaud Jenn for her positive blogs and her ability to keep moving foward. As for Ev and the other mean girls...you ladies better pray that you don't run into the wrong women with those attitudes, because she may be more of a fool than you..ijs

I totally get the

I totally get the frustrations of the viewers regarding the violence on the show, but was everyone so up in arms when Evelyn and Jennifer were "friends" and the two of them would have confrontations with the other cast mates? Though Evelyn never actually " went all the way in" with the other women, but do not just hold Evelyn accountable. Jennifer just appears to be the victim, but there were others, ( ie Meeka, Royce, suzie, and the new chick). Jen knew exactly what type o f person Evelyn was/ is, and it was acceptable for Jen to be friends with evelyn when Evelyn stood up for her, with the Royce situation and with the Jen and tami situation! I agree enough is enough but in reality the entire cast are victims , victims to the old mighty dollar!!!!

"confrontations" as in an

"confrontations" as in an agrument is one thing, but getting violent/assault is another. I don't recall Jenn ever putting her hand on another female in past episodes. Its okay to have verbal fights (to a certain degree), but once you put your hands on me, I have the right to sue you.

Right there with you Mary. Give me a show with a steady pay check too. I'm a single parent too. My daughter is being bullied by junior high school girls. I agree with Star 100%, but

I agree with Star 100%, but on the flip side Jennifer signed a waiver for this show. Those waiver are VERY detailed and state that no one will be held responsible if there is physical. The probelm is that some people want their 15 minutes SO bad that they sign these things not fully understand what they mean. Of course you never go into these shows and think that something will happen, but it is a possibilty which is why you HAVE to sign paper work to be apart of it. Maybe women need to stop being so thristy to be famous that they'll sign their lives away for a little peice of fame. Is it really worth it?
JoJo's picture

That contract will NOT hold

That contract will NOT hold up in court when producers invite a non-cast member into a setting knowing they may become violent. Jen bolstered her case by asking Nia "why are you here?" and then proceeds to look at the executive director, Shaunie. Jen is gonna get a settlement. Whether VH1 pays her salary without requiring appearances on the show, or she gets a lump sum, Jen will walk away with money for this incident.
Dee's picture

VH1 covers their a$$ in the

VH1 covers their a$$ in the waivers for the show partipant not to hold them liable. Not for participants to potentially legally take action against each other. Trust if this were not possible Jen's lawyers would have said such. And as an example most of us sign contracts stating that we can be fired/let go without reasonable cause just to have a job. So with that being said sometimes its really about a paycheck not fame, cause if they are willing to give me 75k a season.. i'm signing up for the $$, however that does not mean i have to partake in the violence and foolery.

Greetings from The Bahamas! I

Greetings from The Bahamas! I absolutely 100 percent agree with Star Jones, regardless of her motives she's made and excellent point. The behavior that these women (particuarly Evelyn) display week after week is disgusting. I think we all need to pray for them because there must be emotional disturbances to feel it neccesary to behave in the manner that they do.

I agree this has gotten out

I agree this has gotten out of hand but Star, it is fighting and screaming on all the Wives shows..They had a cat fight on Beverly Hills Housewives...Those ladies are RICH & WHITE and they were hitting each other too...It is not just the black shows.....This is bullying on all levels....I think Star is a little embarrassed that her X is on their acting like the queen he always was ...I don't like the hitting AT ALL ..Shaunie has to stop acting like she so surprised when Evil Lynn starts fighting......She is the producer and she needs to get this show back on the track

I think the difference is the majority of reality shows and regular programming are of white people. We have two or three shows on TV, and they are usually crap. You only see African Americans in a negative light which only re-enforces stereotypes.

Finally, the “real” African American women are finding their voice. In the days, since viewers watched cast member Evelyn Lozada hurl a wine bottle across the room at Kenya Bell, and subsequently see her assistance slap Jennifer Williams, African American women from all walks of life are starting petitions, responding to blogs and tweeting, “Enough is Enough” across the world wide web. Support the cause to get VH1 to get the Basketvall Wives franchise canceled. We are better, we deserve better. http://www.change.org/petitions/cancel-basketball-wives

A boycott is definitely

A boycott is definitely needed. For anyone to say there are more important issues is stupid. How our image is portrayed worldwide is EXTREMELY important. We can't just sit back and stay hush mouth and just flip the channel. We have to boycott and fight to have this program and any that purposefully demeans black women taken off the air. We do not need to make excuses and act like this is no big deal.
LIVELY's picture

I agree with one thing here;

I agree with one thing here; Evelyn and Tami are bullies!!!!! Shaunie is passive agressive. Grown ass bullies and they have no shame whatsoever. When new castmembers are added, its like they have to audition and be assessed to see if they are good enough to be with the IT girls. What is this? High school? Ladies, you aint nothing but mean, horrible people. Your shit stank!!!!!!
mel's picture

Yeah Evelyn is the original

Yeah Evelyn is the original bully, but Shaunie is the undercover bully behind the scenes I believe. Because when Tammi first came on the show, her and Evelyn both butted heads from the very beginning and basically hated each other's guts. And they're cool now, and why do you ask? because Shaunie pulled them aside behind closed doors and got them on the same page thats why. Looking back at season Tami first came on the show, it looked like Evelyn and Tami would never be as cool as they are now, they are cool now because Shaunie made that happen. She put together the fiercest bully combo to intimidate the hell out of all the future girls that come on this show.

This Sh*! is ridiculous how can we tell our children not to fight and act crazy in public and then watch this foolishness or get mad when other races say well this is how they act when they can see it on t.v. every week, we have to become responsible for our actions, so yes this petition is very much needed.

ALL OF THE WOMEN CONDONING

ALL OF THE WOMEN CONDONING THE VIOLENT BEHAVIOR ON THIS SHOW NEED TO REALIZE THAT SOCIETY WILL LABEL YOU BY WHAT YOU GLORIFY. DO WE AS WOMEN REALLY WANT TO BE LOOKED UPON AS VIOLENT, LIQUOR SIPPING HATERS? WE WILL REPLACE OUR BROTHERS AS THE NEW THUGS........BOYCOTT THIS SHOW FOR THE SAKE OF YOUR CHILDRENS FUTURE IF NOT YOUR OWN. SURE TRAYVON WAS A BOY...BUT THE VERY SAME THING CAN HAPPEN TO FEMALES IF THIS DABAUCHERY CONTINUES.

They were trying to kill everyone in that home. Women busting in homes to kill people Come on, and I bet they watch this show.

Boycotting the show?? ...

Boycotting the show?? ... hmmmn. Well, I get the idea BUT in that case we need to boycott a whole lot of mess on TV then. I definitely don't agree with the violence and with that, Jen has already done what she needed to do. She handled it properly & with class, therefore, I really think going forward that they & any of the TV Networks will take a lesson from this and think twice before trying that b/s again. Jen sent a message by doing that, so that to me is one part of correcting this mess. 2nd, I concur with a few other folks on here; Simply DON'T WATCH -which will send another message to Viacom, and most importantly.......THIS TYPE OF PROGRAM IS NOT FOR YOUNG GIRLS, especially under the age of 18 where television monitoring should be going on anyway. Watching this will give them more undue influence, to dress, speak & act the way they do and then there continues the cycle. Grown women with good sense who do watch this, I'm sure do it exactly for what its intended "ENTERTAINMENT". We know not to act like these damn fools who THINK they represent the "Elite or so-called rich upper class". They choose to make a name & a dollar for themselves by acting tacky, classless, HO-ish & ghetto-fab because they have pretty faces and great bodies. Real women know how to carry themselves and regardless of the almighty dollar, would not jeopardize their character and dignity for such b/s. But this is the world we live in! As much as Keisha started off annoying and scary as hell, she and Jennifer appear to be the smart ones in the end.

I don't feel there is a need

I don't feel there is a need to have a petition. If u don't like it, don't watch it. Do I agree that theae grown women should handle themselves as ladies? Absolutely. Reality is, it sales. Vh1 is not goin to cancel the show b/c it's one of their most popular. For those of u who say these women arw not setting a good example for young black girls, and aren't being role models are correct. Don't let your teens watch it. As a parent your child shouldn't be looking at any celebrity as an example or role model. Thats the parents job.
Anonymous's picture

It is the parent's job to set

It is the parent's job to set a good example for their children. However, the fact of the matter is children do look up to celeberties as role models. As a celeberity you have to be mindful of what you put out there because someone's always watching. Throwing bottles at another woman in an attempt to cause physical harm is not entertaining, it's disgraceful and should have never been shown.
