The BOYCOTT Of Evelyn Lozada & The "Basketball Wives" Is ON!

Folks are absolutely fed up with the utter foolywangery that is VH1's "Basketball Wives." It only took 4 seasons for that to happen. Yet and still, a petition has popped up to boycott cast member Evelyn Lozada's new spinoff show....and Star Jones is gathering up support of powerful women to get the show and its often embarrassing antics stopped.

Evelyn and her assistant Nia Crooks ganging up on co-star Jennifer Williams this season seems to have been the straw that broke the slaphappy camel's back. Because folks are more up in arms than ever at the antics of the grown women on this show. From jumping on tables just to get a lick in on another female to throwing glass in the face of another to may-jah curse-your-ass-out arguments, it's a lot going on "Basketball Wives" these days.

An excerpt from an online petition that is now circulating (check it out in full HERE) reads:

“Evelyn Lozada is a bully. The violence on ‘Basketball Wives’ is horrible and disgraceful. This is not a hate petition against Eveyln Lozada. We simply will not support violence. It hurts to see violence amongst women on television for entertainment purposes. It is not OK for women to hit each other on TV.

Just about every altercation and argument on the show has involved Evelyn in some way, shape or form. From the yelling match on the season 4 premier against her former bestie, Jen, to the table climbing and hair pulling in the last couple of episodes, the woman has a problem for reals."

Ha! The petition also asks viewers to call and write Viacom in order to stop the release of "Ev & Ocho," Evelyn's spinoff show with fiance Chad OchoCinco.

Meanwhile, former "The View" co-host Star Jones went on a twitter rant reading these chicks. Which we assume would include her ex-hubby, Al Reynolds, who appeared on several episodes as the girls' bestie. *eyebrow raised*

She popped off this week saying:

“It may be ‘comfortable’ to be quiet when women of color slap the crap out of each other & run across tables barefoot, but #ENOUGHisENOUGH."

“About to put together a group of sisters to finally ‘tell the truth’ about the image of women of color in the media.”

She continued:

"And the thought that the woman from #BBW who was smacked doesn't have the RIGHT to file assault charges is LUDICROUS! You NEVER give up your right not to have your ‘person’ intentionally assaulted unless you are participating in an agreed physical activity.

…little black girls deserve more than what we're giving! It sickens me @lov3lylina85 when young sis think that behavior is acceptable. U can't get a REAL JOB acting like an animal."

Shaunie, it's just a shame

Shaunie, it's just a shame that you responded that way. People watched the show because it brought light entertainment. When that changed, your viewers had every right to react and respond. For you to be uncaring enough to say "change the channel," is not at all what any professional business person should say. "Business School 101" teaches that the "customer is always right!" Your audience should mean more to you than giving off an arrogant response. The problem now for you may be just what you told "MissAmiaSays" to do: "change the channel." A response like that will get you exactly what you asked her to do. However, you now have to worry when she and thousands of others "change the channel." A viewer's response should be taken seriously. How you react to that response may affect you in the same serious manner. For you to condone Evelyn's crude behavior is an insult to all women. Jennifer is owed an apology.

For a woman about to marry, Evelyn is one unhappy chicken head. It is obvious she needed Jen more than Jen needed her because with Jen by her side she looked less like a hood rat. I really liked her until she went psycho this past season. I refused to watch any of the episodes when I learned they were physically attacking Jen and I will not support any show with Evelyn on it. Shaunie needs to take a seat. I thought she was classy and a smart business woman but she is letting her brand become tainted with Evelyn's foolishness.

Oh how I am delighted in seeing this article & posts. After watching the last episode with Evelyn walking across a table in a restaurant, I was floored! I thought when this show was introduced to us we would get to watch wives of basketball players in their daily routine. What we were shown instead were girlfriends and ex's fighting,gossiping, jealousy all from women over 30 years old. The ladies that are married have been bullied by the others. You can't fit into my circle, isn't that what grade school kids say????What gets me is the fact that Shawnee and Tammie have charities for girls and this is what you show them? Our race is so happy to see so called "black" shows on TV that we accept anything just to have it and yes I am guilty of that. But its time out, our ancestors paved the way for us and we cannot go backwards. Those ladies are getting paid a bit to perform like buffoons, however, they need to have more respect for themselves as well. Something is definitely missing within and could it be the reason why they are ex's and girlfriends????

I have to admit that

I have to admit that basketball wives was a guilty pleasure of mine. In the first couple of seasons, like many other reality shows, there were some conflicts, drama and issues between the ladies; which is necessary for reality television. The reality is without the bit of drama, these realities shows would be...boring. Like any other form of television entertainment; conflict is needed to move the story along and keep the interest at high peak. Even the most tame of reality shows have their drama, from the BFV girls that are constantly bickering about the most mundane things to Tia & Tamera's fighting and crying fest in their 1st season. I think producers make sure that personalities will clash and the drama is played up, at times purposely to keep these reality shows as entertaining as possible, and that includes the competitive reality shows. In saying all of this...the problem with BBW, in the famous words of Tami, it has gone left. The little bit of drama and conflict that the ladies had amongst themselves in the earlier seasons has kicked into high gear these last 2 seasons. There is a mean girl mentality that has taken over and I believed that the cause of the bullying aspect of the show that has gone up a notch is due to both SHAUNIE and the PRODUCERS instigating this type of behavior for ratings. The problem with this, is that this type of behavior and interaction between the ladies has become the WHOLE SHOW. You're no longer interested on what their fighting about-especially when their juvenile at best-you're just waiting for who's going to throw down next. At some point the show no longer has substance to it; barely having any to begin with, it's taken the show to whole new low. To me BBW is now a cross between Jerry Springer and Wild Kingdom; that gazelle like leap that Evelyn did across the table was the final straw for me. I think most of us had a vested interest in the characters and in supporting this show, whether it was for getting a quick glance into the lives of so called "Basketball wives" or for the drama-the former on my part-we wanted to show to be nothing less than entertaining, unfortunately with the constant brawls, it has become nothing more than trashy.

Just reading the comments, they are true, it's crazy to see all the back stabbing, Royce thank you for not staying in all this drama, I have a niece and we have watched the show from time to time and realized that all that is being done is drinking, eating and back stabbing. But for grown mothers it's pitiful, I know it's a show but do you actual act like that. Tami you have calmed down but still you shouldn't involve yourself in this childish crap, Suzie you need to keep your mouth shut, and stop drinking and telling everything and Shauie, i had mad respect for you,but after seeing how your were talking about the incident , i lost it.. Yes I will definitely not watch a new show with Evelyn in it. I fast forward all of her scenes and her fights on the show. THe show is stressful. I like watching Royce & Jennifer, they are powerful women attaining their dreams. I see why Shaq left SHaunie she is fake and a phony. I signed that petition with a smile! I didnt watch BBW at all this season. I got 10 minutes into the first episode and realized i would be wasting an hour of life with stupidity. Stop supporting these type of shows. Support shows like Tia & Tamera or even Tiny & TI. They are entertaining without all the degradation and violence. Support the REAL black actors on shows like Scandal, Grimm, Psych or Common Law with Michael Ealy starting soon. I am amazed at some of the

I am amazed at some of the comments that support the negativity of these reality shows. Is it because there is an all black cast with a black executive producer that people think we should support BBW? I have no problem supporting black producers black movies, etc. However I do have a problem supporting any show that degrades and exploit women especially African American women. You wonder why other races do not respect us because we don't respect us!! Until we as a people start showing the world that we deserve respect we will NEVER be respected and shows like this make it even more difficult! Every image of a black woman they see is always negative. Is this how we show our respect and appreciation to those women who have paved the way for us? What they did means nothing? Reality shows have gotten out of hand!! Children are committing suicide because of bullying and we support grown, I mean full grown women bullying other women. Really? People are watching, and what this platform is being used for it not good. Star Jones also has a huge platform, at least she is using it for good. I respectfully disagree. The image that we present, not to the world, but to one another is of the highest importance. We have to lift each other and ourselves up. Change and positivity must come from all directions and on every level of our communities. This is important, just as fighting for Trayon and Sean Bell and Oscar grant were and the Jena Six and more, more, more. Every level and direction, people...This is one time where I am completely with Star. Someone has to love Black women enough to be appalled. I do, even if you don't. (And no, these women don't represent me personally but we are in a media driven society and we as Black women don't get many outlets. Shame that this is one of the few.)
