SWV Gets UP CLOSE & PERSONAL With Latavia Roberson & ATL Fans

Fresh off the heels of their I Miss Us album release, SWV had an "Up Close & Personal" evening in Atlanta at Peter Thomas' Bar One lounge last night.  Check out the pics of the ladies having fun with their fans, including former Destiny's Child member Latavia Roberson, inside...

Celeb photographer Derek Blanks hosted the evening with Coko, LeLee & Taj

And it seems like Taj is still taking that drama with her hubby, Eddie George, in stride.

Latavia Roberson made a cute appearance at the event.  Haven't seen her in a while.

And the ladies also snapped some pics with the Rude Boys.  Remember them from the '90's?  "It's written all over your face....."  Who found them though?  Fun times.

Stars from the 80"s and 90'S

Stars from the 80"s and 90'S need to stay in retirement and just do occasional concerts. I know y'all will come at me with all kinds of hate but the truth is , young people are the ones navigating the music industry in terms of buying music and attending concerts and we are not checking for these fossils. The SWV's, Brandy's and Monica's of the world will never have the success and fame that they had back in 190-when. Its better to walk away when you are at the top than to be ask to step down unceremoniously. Poor Monica with all the hype and the joining forces with your previous arch nemesis Brandy on that song did not help her poor first week sales of 70.000.

what a load of

what a load of crap......madonna is still making music in 2012 in her 50s, michael jackson would still be the king of pop if he was alive now, prince is still making music and so is lionel ritchie, u2 are doing well and rolling stones don't seem to stop touring, tina turner in her 40s was when she was a break out star and appealed to young rock fans, jay z is well respected by and still making music. good music is exactly that and young people are not stupid, they know good music when it is there. the fact is r'n'b genre is dead as no one really stands out now so welcoming these past successful artists is the way for its break through.

This is the problem with our

This is the problem with our culture. We do not honor our musicians that paved the way. These artists should be appreciated and respected for their contributions not discarded and insulted. The problem with our culture is that we dont respect old school artists. When they try to come back out with new music we dont appreciate it for what it is we are instead comparing it to whats out currently or judge it according to their old music. But when you look at these old white rock groups and these older white artists they are always appreciated and can always make record sales and book shows. There is a reason why Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, Bruce Springsteen, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, U2 etc are still wealthy and making money and performing.... These groups are regarded as legends to white people and they book concerts and sellout tours and have the loyalty and support of their old fans and they gain newer fans who learn to appreciate the music as well. But we dont support our artists that way, by the time they hit 30 we start criticizing them, calling them old and we dont appreciate them anymore. Its sad. Thats like taking kicking money right out of their hands. Music artists are creative beings like any other artist, we dont say that an author or a painter or a screenwiter is too old to create and produce their art anymore, so why dont we support our old music artists when they reach a certain point. We should expect them to do their music for life bc that is their life, that was all they once knew thier career. SWV are still young are they supposed to retire and never perform or release new music ever again simply bc they are in their late 30s... If the average life span is 85 years then what we are saying is that for the final 50 years of their life they should never want to write or perform music not because they cant but because they "aged- out" according to the black audience? Thats crazy!!! I could never take food out of someones mouth but thats what we do to our black musicians everytime we try to stifle their careers and refuse to support them because they are old school. We are so discriminating and hard on each other and thats why we dont progress..

Alright, Child. We'll let the "fossils" have a seat and see which one of these "young bucks" of today will have careers that span 15, 20, or 30 YEARS in the industry. I can't wait to be a grand-parent someday and hear my future grandchild singing his or her lungs out to something by Nicki Minaj, Gucci Mane or Waka Flocka Flame!

I think you might be correct

I think you might be correct becasue I am sure it is about 30 years since SWV wsa relevant or made any music. Just remeber just because you think a particular genre of music is real musicyou do do speak for the rest of the world. You an spew all the nonsense you want the truth is, these 80 and 90 fossil will not increase their fan base with that old steez, its been done already, life is about progression not reminiscing about the past. So you and the other twenty old foot grannys on here can listen to your SWV and get all nostalgic and shit. I will go with Chris Brown or Drake. Its call choice.

Do your research, SWV's last

Do your research, SWV's last album was dropped in 1997... by my math that's 15 years, not 30. These young ladies have serious TALENT and they have always been RELEVANT. Coko, the lead singer, has several solo albums (R&B and Gospel) that were very successful between 1997 and now. Chris Brown, Drake and all those other "new" artists have talent as well but groups like SWV paved the way. Chris Brown recently made "She Ain't You" which is a cover of Right Here by SWV, which is a cover of Human Nature by Michael Jackson. Music is continuously recycled, has been and will always be. But don't disrespect those who been in the game for decades because that is not easy to maintain.... and BTW... the CD is banging, you should go pick it up and give it an honest chance.... you might like it.

ACTUALLY young people are

ACTUALLY young people are illegally downloading all these new crap artist right now which is why it takes 6 months to a year b4 those frogs go platinum... REAL talent NEVER goes away which is why these "fossils" can come out 20 years later with an album that goes number 1 on itunes the first day... and Monica has always been an artist with a smaller fan base yet she has talent because alas, you young people don't know talent.... we will check for you Rhianna and Chris Brown fans in 20 years.. but I will catch up with your new artists and their demise on their behind the music special.... signed.... your Moms

Oh sit down. Bills still

Oh sit down. Bills still need to get paid and singing and performing is what these people do for a living so who are you to decide they shouldn't continue doing it. So what if you're young and you're not checking for them, don't buy! They have a market and an audience who will surely support them. Here's some news for you, at some point you'll get older too and you'll just be creaming yourself at the opportunity to see tired old has beens like Nicki Minaj and Drake perform so you can reminisce. However, the difference is the artists you support are talentless hacks who only have a career because of gimmicks and auto tune so the likelihood that anyone will sponsor their return to the stage is nil so enjoy why you can.

You must be a child of the

You must be a child of the millennium have several seats please. The 80s & 90s produced real talent, the songs meant something, they had substance & is still relevant today. A lot of the music out Now is just biting & sampling off of that era anyway. Do your research concerts is how they're staying relevant because people of that time are paying to go see these artists. Not everyone is interested in the music of today ie: Nicki Minaj, Rihanna.
