DO WE LOVE IT?! Tatyana Ali In CATHERINE MALANDRINO'S ICONIC FLAG DRESS

Actress Tatyana Ali is joining the scripted BET show family.  So she hit the carpet for last night's NYC 2012 BET Upfronts in a statement look.  Decide if we love her iconic Catherine Malandrino flag frock inside...

The star of BET's upcoming scripted sitcom, "Second Generation Wayans," which is also starring Craig Wayans and Damien Dante Wayans, made her official BET debut at last night's Ufronts. 

The 33-year-old beauty rocked the iconic longsleeved Catherine Malandrino flag dress, which was featured in the Fashion & Politics Exhibit at The Museum at FIT’s Fashion and Textiles Gallery in 2009. 

The french designer made the dress to for celebrities and socialites to express patriotism after 9/11. It was also re-launched in 2008 in response to the Obama presidential campaign. Tatyana expressed her patriotism by pairing it with a bold red lip and soft cropped curls, along with Diane Von Furstenberg metallic sandals.  But did she do the dress justice?

That dress wasn't made for

That dress wasn't made for her body type. I like the dress, but it was made for someone very statuesque -- a tall, lean, modelesque woman. You can have boobs, but you need thinner legs, slight hips and a smaller butt. I like the dress, but not on Tatyana. It is not flattering.

I guess I'm in the minority here, but I like the dress, make-up, and hair. She looks very throw-back 50s glamor. No the hair isn't a weave of tossled curls flowing down her back which everyone seems to think is the epitome of glamour. The short curly due sets off the dress nicely.
