BET Renews Hit Series "THE GAME" For SIXTH Season!

Fans of BET's hit scripted series "The Game" will be pleased to know the cast is suiting up and hitting the field for a 6th season.  Get the deets inside on Girl Melanie & co. and find out how the rest of BET's tv lineup is looking.....

Although BET won't offically announce its fall lineup until their upfront presentation on Thursday, we got a sneak peek at what's to come and both "The Game" and "Let's Stay Together" will be returning.

At its upfront presentation on Thursday, according to Deadline Hollywood, BET will announce that "The Game" has been renewed for a sixth season.  Hopefully Brandy returns for the Chardonnay/Jason Pitts story line.  And possibly Brittany Daniel could reprise her rolse as Jason's ex-wife Kelly.

Also, one of the network's other original sitcoms, "Let's Stay Together," has been picked up for a third season.  With their renewals, each sitcom will likely produce an order of 22 episodes.

In addition, BET is expected to reveal deets about the hour-long pilot "Being Mary Jane" starring Gabrielle Union (previously called "Single Black Female" & produced by Mara Brock Akil) and the sitcom "Young Man On Campus" starring Jacob Latimore (produced by Jacque Edmonds).   

One show that's still in limbo is the Tracy Ellis Ross/Malcolm-Jamal Warner family sitcom "Reed Between The Lines."  

Outside of the tv realm, "The Game" star Tia Mowry Hardrict is prepping for season 2 of her Style channel reality show with twin Tamera Mowry Housley called "Tia & Tamera."  And Tia's also written a book called Oh, Baby! Pregnancy Tales and Advice from One Hot Mama to Another that hits stands on May 15.  Grab a copy!

Anybody who watched the past

Anybody who watched the past seasons, know that the last two seasons were very mediocre and dry. The acting, the settings, the hair, makeup, styling was just off. This is from a fan who was all for the show to come back on by signing petitions, going to the UPN/CW website and signing that petition also. I also checked statuses of the show and was rooting for its comeback, but the show is not what it used to be. I am not being a hater or a non supporter but I am just stating pure facts that the show is now lackluster and the characters has lost that "umph" , charismatic charm and quirkiness they individually had on the show 2 seasons ago.

The Game does not do anything

The Game does not do anything positive for the Black Male image. Absolutely nothing at all... which is SAD. Actors like Pooch Hall and Hosea Chanchez must REALLY need the money to be doing some horrible gigs like The Game, because it's making them look like complete fools. I hope Bumper Robinson does not disgrace himself any further by doing any more cameos on this wicked-ass show.

The Game is the best black

I so use to love the game, but they turn it into a joke tasha mack paying for sex please who would believe that! her son blows all his money on chicks, drugs and a house! i am so sick of derwine and his silly wife whose a doc, and jason loves black woman please! upn had this show on point it made us want to watch it the game has one more year of my life and if that can't get it right i so over it. And please BET don't get your hands on girlfriends let us just dream of a ending

I agree that Tasha paying for sex took it a bit too far. That was the only storyline that I thought was ridiculous. In regards to your other comment I will just post what I already did. I'm actually upset about the comments I am reading. First of all, you all complain about white women dating black men ALL the time. Now this show is finally focusing on it and trying to get to the root of the issue and it's a PROBLEM. Next, they are focusing on Maliq and what happens when athletes don't control their money and get into things like drugs, etc. and that's a PROBLEM. Next, they are discussing what happens and how hard it is on women that can't have children, especially in the spotlight...oh and wait that's a PROBLEM. They are doing all of this while still including the laugh factor! If Melanie and Derwin are happy with no problems, as well as the other characters, then there is NO story line! I swear some people will NEVER be satisfied. They have made this show deep but I think some of you are so simple and shallow you can't see past what they are doing with the show. It's on another level but some of you are still sitting behind. I think it's giving a REAL look at what can happen but you want it to be a fairytale. I say stick with the reality shows since that seems to be what entertains you people. Don't complain when we have NO shows to watch outside of BBW's and the Kardashians.

Let's not get started on Kelly disappearing after being a crazy angry ex wife....Brit brat we want the original back!!! Let's not forget teetee he was that low key hilarious with he's cracks now he has nothing funny to say. Derwin I guess he is ok but he's character is still not quiet rgt....but whatever!!

Not as enthusiastic about The Game as I was 2 seasons ago, the writing has fallen off and I tuned out after the first 2 episodes this season. I actually enjoy LST more, as they've keep improving as they go.

Its great that you love the

Its great that you love the show, you should continue to watch it. I personally dont think its funny and certainly not as funny as it used to be...once a person kind of opens their mind up to different forms of entertainment sometimes your standards of what's funny or whats good tends to get a bit higher..also I think you have to look at it like this, with regards to comedies and sitcoms and if you look at them overall to me. The writing is bad and they try too hard to get a message accross, the dialogue doesnt seem natural in comparrison to other sitcoms...but in regards to reality shows BBW's and Kardashians they are the BEST in their category--BEST being the most rachett...you're comparing apples and oranges...compare comedies to comedies and reality to reality...I can love the crazy rachetness of BBW's and love and hip hop and not think that The Game is that funny when compared to say Lets Stay Together or Friends or Big Bang Theory or whatever...

I have HIGH standards if that's what you are getting at. I'm pointing out that this show touches on a LOT of different things. When it first came out they stated that they wanted to give a real look at things that happen with athletes and also significant others and I think they are doing that. Yes, it's not as comical as it was or as some of the shows you mentioned. But does that make it a terrible show? No. I think the one thing that contributes to the show not being as good as it can be is the fact that the set always looks so cheap in comparison to how it was on the CW. But the storyline is heading in the right direction as far as maturing. I think the problem is people not maturing with it. And I made the comparison to reality shows because it is definitely what's taking over television these days. That's a fact.

The Game also needs an entire

The Game also needs an entire new staff of writers. They really need to readjust Melanie. She's not likeable and she's the only reason I started watching the show in the first place. Furthermore, I don't like the way Malik reverted back to his old ways. I liked him with Jenna and it would be great if Tika comes back. I try to check out the show if Brandy's on but it's not a priority for me to watch.

Agreed!!!! I used to love The Game. Would even watch it on youtube if I had missed a show. This season however, I am over it. The characters have been ruined and I don't understand why because the original producers/writers are behind this new season. Please give Melanie a brain. Her character is completely shallow. So unappealing from before. Its even making the acting appear worse as well. Come on BET, you can do better. Too bad TBS didn't pick this up...

"The Game" will only be good

"The Game" will only be good if Brandy comes back, period. I LOVE "Let's Stay Together," especially with the addition of Kyla Pratt. This season has been great. I also liked "Reed BTL," but with Tracey getting a new show, that may jeopardize things. It was positive and I liked it though.

I stopped watching this season. They need to bring back Kelly AND the original Britt Brat, & dump Brandy Its a sad day when i would rather watch Lets Stay Together, than The Game. LST improved on the story lines & everythg!

BET has ruined the game. None of the women are independent and empowering. I do like Brandy's character but they ruined Melanie. She was a good "tv" role model and they turned her into a petty, materialistic housewife. It was sooooo much better before BET got a hold of it.
