Dawn Richard Talks Breaking Up With Que, Cheating & Leaving Bad Boy On The Breakfast Club

The newly independent Dawn Richard stopped by The Breakfast Club this morning and explained why we haven't seen her with Que (formerly of Day 26) lately--as they used to be attached at the hip. She alludes to some cheating going down, which ended their 5 year relationship, and dished on why she left Diddy & Bad Boy to do her own thing....

Dawn is officially an independent solo artist. She discussed this morning with The Breakfast Club on Power 105 that once Diddy said he was done with their group Dirty Money, she asked Diddy & Jimmy Iovine to let her go.

She just released her new EP Armor On as a prelude to her upcoming full length studio album. And she revealed the ups and downs with that, saying it's a difficult journey.

Dawn also revealed she's a single lady, but dating. And as for what went down with her ex-boyfriend Que--she said she never wants to put anybody in a bad light, but she's a woman who deserves more. When asked if he cheated, she didn't confirm...but definitely didn't deny. Actually sounded more like a Yes to us. Tisk tisk tisk.

On the Que issue. I remember when I was obsessed with those two. One day Que left some classless tweet about being a free agent right as Dawn was on the radio doing promo with Dirty Money, I remember listening to the interview and Dawn must have read her twitter, got really emotional and Diddy made a reference to boys and men. It was like asif he saw it and got angry. Needless to say, I lost respect for Que, interest in their relationship and saw that Diddy did indeed have Dawns back. I wish her well, admire her for taking the high road and believe Diddy did have her best interest at heart. Que can kick rocks.

Dawn comes from an jazz based upbringing with a rock influences. If you've got an R&B voice like she has and its new to you who else was she going to reference? Definitely love Dawn! I met her in DC and she was beyond genuine! Shout Out to New Orleans and all of Louisiana. I love how eloquent and business-minded she sounds. She definitely learned a lot in this experience (you can tell). PS> everyone knows Louisiana has a french background that's why her name is pronounced "Rishawd" and not "Richurd"!

I hope Dawn is successful on her own, she was IMO the most talented one in Danity Kane. Based on this interview I now like her even more as she conducted her self like a true lady with style, charm & grace. I remain confused as to why after Diddy's success in orchestrating the destruction/stagnation of so many promising artists careers, Total, Shyne, 112, Carl Thomas to name a few, why he is still able to attract real talent, when its clear the only 1 that always comes out on top is DIDDY!! Your entire comment is invalid. Dawn independently released an EP to Itunes on March 27th. Her EP is sitting at #1 on the Itunes R&B chart and #26 on the Itunes overall charts. Since it was independent with NO label backing that means Dawn pockets ALL of that money. She's #1 and #26 which means she probably ahead of alot of your favs. Apparently, alot of people are buying her EP for it to be doing so well with NO promotion. She is even charting in other countries. Have a seat hater while Dawn laughs all the way to the bank.
