Janet Jackson TELLS Anderson Cooper She Is SHOCKED By Whitney's Death, Is PRAYING For Bobbi Kris

Janet Jackson sat down with Anderson Cooper recently and she revealed her thoughts about the life and legacy of Whitney Houston and also discussed the very special bond that they had.  Watch the segments inside.....

On an interview airing Monday, February 20, 2012, Janet Jackson talked to Anderson Cooper about Whitney and the special bond that they shared (remember her Control album and Whitney's debut weren't too far apart).

She revealed that if they were at award shows, they would always make it a point to stop by one another's dressing room to show love and offer support (who knew!).

She also added that Whitney was a "sweet soul."  And though losing a brother is nothing like losing a mother, she had a few words for Bobbi Kris too.....

Watch the clips here:

Janet on praying for Whtney's family:

Anderson: My thoughts obviously and I think everybody is with her daughter Bobby Kristina, who has just got to be reeling.
Janet: It's very, very devastating and I pray for her and her family, even Bobby. I mean he's going through so much.  They are all going through so much. The mother, it's very sad.
Anderson: Her mother spoke with her a short time before she passed and again for a parent to outlive a child is just the worst thing there is.

Janet talks about Whitney as a performer:

Anderson: We've all been kind of re-listening to her and her performance singing the Star Spangeld Banner. To you, what was she like as a performer?
Janet: Incredible. She was known as the voice. When she would open her mouth and this instrument would come out you would obviously understand why. She was such a sweet sweet soul. Especially back in early 80s and early 90s is when I connected with Whitney the most. It doesn't matter if we were doing an awards show. We would always take the time out to find one another. Either she'd come to my dressing room to say hey and I'd be in makeup or I'd find her in her dressing room to say hey, we always found time to talk to one another. She was such a sweet soul.

Janet offers advice to Bobbi Kristina:

Anderson: What advice do you have for her family for her kid. For her child?
Janet: It's a very very tough time. Even though it’s still a loss. I lost my brother, she lost her mother. There's still a difference, even though there's a still a loss to a family, I don't know what that's like being so young. It was hard for me. It was very very difficult for me. I didn't want to accept it, it's very difficult. You have to come to terms at some point, you have to actually give it up to God and it sounds so mean but you have to move on you can't hold onto that because it can be very devastating. Sometimes therapy is the best thing.
Anderson:  TV People always use that word closure when they are talking about loss, as someone who has lost family members as well, I don't think there is such a thing as closure. I think that's a made up TV word.
Janet: No, I don't think there is either, but you have to go on with life. You figure out a way to move on. It's always right here. There's never a day, not one day has gone by where I don't think about my brother and my other brothers and sisters say the same thing.

THIS IS WHY THE MEDIA SHOULD

THIS IS WHY THE MEDIA SHOULD LEAVE THEM ALONE LIKE CHRIS BROWN I'M SO GLAD HE HAVENT TAKEN HIS LIFE YET

It’s weird that you say that

It’s weird that you say that because I was thinking the exact same thing. Not to give him a pass ‎‎(because what he did was wrong) but when Chris and Rhianna were going through that, I really prayed ‎for them that they would get through it. I’m not talking about them getting back together or anything ‎but more so the negative media focus day after day after day. Kids this age (because seriously they’re ‎kids) get really emotional and do impulsive things. ‎

Love, love, love Janet. She's

Love, love, love Janet. She's so positive and inspiring. I know this forces her to think about Michael - another icon gone too soon. Both will be sorely missed. Who is coming up in the wings that can even touch either one? Beyonce is great but this feels like another level altogether -put a ring on it and bootilicious can't transport her to the space they occupied. It would however be nice to see an up and coming talent of this potential magnitude...not to replace but to continue.

So true!! I often think

So true!! I often think about all of the greats slowly leaving so soon that I grew up listening to! And I wonder, who has the gift & talent to continue on with their caliber of greatness…You’re absolutely right, Beyonce is great & has shown some positive longevity in the game, but her catalog of work doesn’t compare to that of a Whitney, or a Micheal. I don’t know if we’ve encountered our next great one yet or not, all I know that its really sad when you think about it.

Oh please dont leave out

Oh please dont leave out Prince and Mariah their catalogs has been unmatched also!

I agree! If something

I agree! If something happened to Prince or Mariah it would be horrendous because they are wonderfully unique and beyond talented. By up and coming I meant some miraculous young person ready to set the world on fire with their gift. The music industry has changed so much. It seems that all they're interested in is a man made, cash cow that they can use up and spit out.

It has been well rumored.

It has been well rumored. Janet and Bobby never dated. She was with Rene Elizondo since the mid 80s after her marries to James Debarge. She secretly married him in the 90s. When would she have had time to date Bobby Brown?

maybe Janet shouldve done

maybe Janet shouldve done MORE to HELP her OWN brother as he slowly killed himself (but no....the Jackson Family is too worried about WORSHIPING $$$)
Whitney H.'s picture

not this BS again. So its

not this BS again. So its the Jackson's fault that MJ hired a doctor to administer proposal to him? Y'all sound crazy as hell. There are tons of drug addicts out there, do we only blame family of celebrities? I have an Aunt that died over drugs. You can't help an addict unless they want to help themselves. Janet looks great btw. RIP Whitney and MJ.
sela's picture

I agree. I will say there was

I agree. I will say there was some negligence, maybe enabling from the Jackson family toward MJ. At some point before MJ drug addiction got worse, they were all focused on the money, the fame of their brother, and how he can help them build their personal career more and forgot that their brother was slowly dying inside. I felt like the family should have spoken out more positively about their brother especially during some of his hardest time, the molestation accusation. Janet, been very close to him could have fought harder for him I understand the family are trying to be Jehovah like, all polite but they didn't fight enough. But, MJ is gone. R.I.P the greatest artist, I miss you. In whitney's situation, her substance abuse was a major problem. When you are so dependent on alcohol, crack, it makes it more complicated. I pray for her daughter. It's sad to lose your mother at that age. R.I.P Whitney Houston. It's time to go after these MONEY HUNGRY doctors who only care about the BIG DOLLAR even when they patients are slowly dying away.

You can shoulda, coulda,

You can shoulda, coulda, woulda all day long, it won't make a bit of difference. We can't say they weren't supportive enough of him, just because they weren't shouting it all over the place in the media during his hardest times. We don't know what they did or dealt with privately. Point is, they did what they could do at the time. We cannot say whether they should've done more. At this point, it doesn't matter. He's gone. If doctors did what they were supposed to by keeping their oath, instead of caring about these celebs' money, we wouldn't have to even have this discussion. As stated, MJ's fam could've done everything we thought should be done, and he could've still had his dependency. The person with the addiction will not get help no matter what you try to do, until they are ready to... until they decide enough is enough.
Anonymous's picture

You don't know what they did

You don't know what they did or did not do. They had tried to stage an intervention and get through to him several times. Ultimately, no matter how much you do or try to do, the person will not get help and cannot BE helped, until they are ready.

I love Janet. And i agree we should honor artists like Janet while they're still here. She's the epitome of beauty and class. Janet also exudes beauty from the inside, out... I too was shaking when i found out Whitney had died. Her death still hasn't sunk in yet. And i still cry about it, especially when i hear her music. Such a sad loss. My heart goes out to Bobbi Kris.

Very well stated, and

Very well stated, and sincerely conveyed! Janet is a class act! There truly aren’t many artist like her left. Almost all the artist nowadays are so self absorbed its just pathetic. Class and sincerity go a lot further than beauty, and when you are blessed to have both, you have been favored!

Janet is looking more and

Janet is looking more and more like Michael everyday-wow! I appreciate wht she said about Whitney and their bond: its nice to know that they were friends--not competitors cuz they both ran things and topped the charts back in the day. Lovely sentiment: no speculation of the how or the why-she just said kind words. Classy.

my heart really goes out to

my heart really goes out to bobby kris. i lost my father suddenly this year while he was fairly young. i'm living with the grief and it's hard for a grown woman, let alone a young woman who in many respects still needs her mother. you have to somehow come to peace with your loved one's passing. if you believe they are in Heaven, then you know your grief and saddness is truly only for your loss and not theirs since they are finally experiencing the eternal life God promised them. it's OK to feel saddness for the loss and it's affect on your life. sometimes, people say that feeling sad for yourself after a loved one's death is selfish. it's not; it's only a testament to how special that person was to you and the void you feel from their death. whitney's family should grieve for as long as it takes and in any manner that allows them to finally release the pain, as long as those actions are healthy. i echo janet's advice: counseling definitely helps. prayers and love going out to the houston and brown families. may God bless and bring them through this tragedy.
