Chaka Khan TALKS Whitney's Death, Says Clive Davis Should Have CANCELLED His Party!

Music icon Chaka Khan stopped by Piers Morgan's CNN show last night where she disagreed with Clive Davis saying there's no way Whitney would have attended a party if one of her friends had just died. She would not have wanted the music to keep playing. Get the deets inside.....

Chaka chatted with Piers Morgan last night and opened up about the death of friend Whitney Houston.

She said that Clive Davis' pre-Grammy party was "insanity" with one half of the room partying and the other half in tears. She added that she can't imagine Whitney would have said that "the show must go on."

Chaka revealed Whitney was the kind of woman who who has said, "I won't be there," if one of her friends died. She interestingly added that she blames whomever flew Whitney out to LA for a full week before the Grammys for what happened.

Talking about her own addiction, Chaka said entertainers are vulnerable and there are too many temptations in LA for someone like Whitney to be there for a FULL week with pretty much nothing to do except party.

Meanwhile, Whitney's body has been flown to New Jersey, via Tyler Perry's private jet, where the funeral will be taking place at the Prudential Center her childhood church and will be invite only.

As far as I'm concerned

As far as I'm concerned everybody there was extremely tacky! Especially Clive and Alicia. I love Alicia's music, but I can see BS from a mile away. Many celebs leave and exit places without being seen ESPECIALLY Alicia, but now we've got pictures of her consoling Clive (her and only her...his now biggest cash cow.) They probably were staying at the hotel, and had to come outside to take those photos. I've followed Alicia's and Whitney's careers and there is one thing I know Clive is good at marketing!! If they were as close to Whitney as they say than someone should have bothered to check up on her daughter who was at the hotel having a nervous breakdown because I'm sure that was what Whitney would have REALLY wanted.

I guess you ppl didnt watch

I guess you ppl didnt watch CNN all that night. Clive was to cancel the party. Cissy Houston The Mother called Clive Davis and asked him to please go on she stated Whitney would want the party to go on. Man its crazy how ppl always wanna find some kinda drama. We are all Gods children and it's he say so when he calls us home Its just a really really sad lose tho. Stop tryna find fault and blame and pray for this family Stop worrying about what addiction she had her legacy and talent is what should be remembered.

I looked on to CNN and I

I looked on to CNN and I still haven't found where her mother or anyone else told him the party should go on! And as far as trying to blame someone for her death.... I didn't do that. I simply pointed out people whom I thought were being extremely tacky.

I totally agree. I said the same thing when I read that Whitney's body was still in the hotel room while everybody was down stairs partying. Why didn't the hotel officials shut the whole hotel down forget Clive. Soon as they got word it would of been a wrap. EVERYBODY OUT!

Chaka aint never lied!

Chaka aint never lied! Everyone who claims they care or cared about Whitney and were close to her need to take some blame in this too. I understand that no one put a pipe to her mouth or made her smoke a Primo but the truth is a lot of people enabled her. That da** Bobby Brown started this shyt off and Ray J needs to take blame too. He was right there by her side at all the parties. I don't know if y'all remember but a while back there was a picture taken of Whitney in a car with Ray J, leaving a club, I believe her wig was all sweated out again and she was going through her purse for something. You could vividly see pill bottles in her bag in that picture. I KNOW Ray J and all of her other handlers knew this woman was a pill head and they did nothing about it. They fueled it. All Whitney did was turn in one addiction (crack smoking) for another addiction (pill popping). It's really sad and truth be told Bobbi Kris is headed that way herself. We've all seen the pics of her snorting blow and she has that erratic behavior just like her mother and father. Whitney, like Michael Jackson, needed people around them that really cared for them. They didn't have that. Alll everyone did was take from them because they were their cash cows. It's just really sad all the way around.

Yep, she is.. I pray for that

Yep, she is.. I pray for that lil girl. It was said on the radio this morning that Bobby flew in to be with her but still hasn't made his way to actually see his daughter or to console her. A family friend stated that she now feels alone and abondoned b/c her other was the onl person she had. I know what it feels like to feel that was and to just want to hide behind whatever would take the pain away. SHE IS 19 YRS OLD WITH A WHOLE LOT OF LIFE LEFT. JUST PRAY FOR HER.
Kells's picture

Yep! And you know what I

Yep! And you know what I found strange? It made no sense to me that Bobby was all on stage performing with New Edition wasting fake tears when he should have cancelled his performance that night and flew out to be with his daughter. This ninja didn't fly out until a day or two later AFTER his daughter had been admitted to the da** hospital. What's that about??!?!?!? Your wack azz singing career is over Bobby amd truth be told, aint nobody checking for New Edition! He should have packed his shyt up and been on the first flight smoking that same day.

I just really feel bad for BK

I just really feel bad for BK if anything. I loved Whitney but I dont' feel sorry for ppl who waste their talents. Not everyone is blessed with gifts as big as Whitney's and she blew it. No her daughter is left w/o guidance. Its really sad

Everybody wants to blame

Everybody wants to blame Bobby Brown... It was Clive Davis who brought an impressionable, young girl, who was already a successful model, into the business.
Stella's picture

I agree, Whitney was doing

I agree, Whitney was doing drugs way before she met Bobby Brown. And he wasn't labeled a bad boy til they got together, simply, as she said herself, because their IMAGES were different. Read back over her interview with Oprah, listen to her and stop blaming him for the action of a GROWN woman. RIP Whitney, regardless of it all you were a great STAR!

You just spoke the truth!

You just spoke the truth!
DrLiz's picture

@SRenita I agree with you! I

@SRenita I agree with you! I love love love Whitney but the truth is the truth. Bobby did not turn her onto drugs. She was doing drugs way before she met him. Why doesn't anybody remember that guy in Newark that was on the news years ago saying that she tried to buy drugs from him? That was before Bobby. I am from Jersey so maybe it was a local news thing, but she denied it and everybody moved on. It was common knowledge in Jersey that she was a user. I am hurt that she is gone but this is not Bobby's fault. She ended up a drug addict just like her two brothers Gary and Michael who are also addicts. As far as Clive goes, nobody forced her to get high..end of story.
Anonymous's picture

Just to clarify, I wasn't

Just to clarify, I wasn't agreeing with the Clive Davis part, just that it wasn't Bobby Brown blame to take. My brother in Harlem was the one that told me that he had seen her on the party scene many times partaking in drug usage. He is also in the music industry.

I understand what Chaka said

I understand what Chaka said and why she said it--BUT we all grieve differently. Shoulda/coulda/woulda--what's done is done. It was God's decision to take Whitney whenever & however He did it. Clive Davis made her who she was and seemed to TRULY care for Whitney's well-being for the last SEVERAL years. His party had been planned and was already underway, guests were already en-route to his event when news of her death broke. Half the people in the crowd thought it was a hoax--and intended to party anyway: and the other half consists of very young artists who don't REALLY know who Whitney Houston was. Ok-so he had the party: that does not mean he didn't care for Whitney. It would really be nice for people to accept that we all think/grieve/react/live differently--and that is OK.

Two thumbs down..excuses

Two thumbs down..excuses excuses there was video of Gabrielle union who was there walking in when she found out, but even she said she was confused because she thought it would be cancelled...E! news showed that video...also if there are artist there that are soooooooo amazingly young they don't know Whitney...I don't want to buy or listen to any of them...that's wack!
Anonymous's picture

I'm not debating you, just

I'm not debating you, just making a comment - If Gabrielle felt things weren't right, she had every right to leave. People grieve differently is all I'm saying. People are uptight because of a lost life - I'm sad too. Whitney is not in the ground yet and people are pointing fingers and spitting negative views.

Hollywood is a COLD hearted,

Hollywood is a COLD hearted, opportunistic environment anyway. The fact that they opened the Grammy's with Bruce Springstein rocking it out, rather than paying homage to Whitney off the back still has me upset and LONGING for her due tribute by BET in June. If that was Madonna, they would have jumped hurdles to change the programming.

Chaka Khan is absolutely

Chaka Khan is absolutely right! How creepy and morbid to go on with a party when one of the performers and attendee's cold body is lying dead on the 4th floor.  Furthermore, Clive Davis is supposed to be Whitney's god-father. What type of human being would do such a cold, heartless thing?  He gives me the impression that he is concerned only about the money and image. Brandy and Monica cancelled their performance because they were heart broken and saddened by the tragedy, you would have though that Clive had the decency and respect to do the same. But no, He's too worried about cashing in on his next cash cow; Jennifer Hudson. It won't be long before he starts lurking Bobby Kristina into the horrible industry.
Anonymous's picture

I'm sorry but how is Jennifer

I'm sorry but how is Jennifer Hudson his next cash cow? She hardly sells records, a gold record is not popping and will never make her a well respected multi-platinum selling artist. Her voice is NOT appealing to the masses and is just geared toward one particular fan base. She hasn't had in a real movie in forever and at this point is known for weight loss commercials. Yes she has an Oscar and a Grammy but that won't make her the next great singer. I respect Jennifer's hustle and it is great to see a sista living her dreams but she will never be Clive or anybody else's international superstar. Her voice and appearance are more suited for broadway or church music.

I agree with everything you

I agree with everything you said but he's Krissy's godfather -- not Whitney's -- but he was her industry father, which makes his actions even more reprehensible.
Elle's picture

Clive is Bobbi Kristina's

Clive is Bobbi Kristina's godfather. Clive didnt say that Whitney would still attend the party if one of her friends passed, he said she wouldve wanted the party to go on and the music to go on. By the time the news broke, people were already on their way to the party. Whitney's family said to let it go on.
Laura Stan's picture

Excuse me? Whitney's family

Excuse me? Whitney's family said NO such thing. Where's your source? The ONLY statements her family have made were their official statements released expressing their sadness over the sudden death of their beloved Whitney. CLIVE said that Whitney would have wanted the party to go on and Chaka denounced that and said no she wouldn't have. Chaka is extremely close with Whitney's family and was also close to Whitney. She is correct. If Whitney had loss someone to her, she would have stayed home and mourned like any person with COMMON SENSE would do. This was ALL about business and money to Clive. DEPLORABLE!

This world lacks compassion

This world lacks compassion and class. Clive was like a father figure to Whitney, and he's also Bobbi Kristina's godfather yet he made a TERRIBLE decision to continue on with a party while her body is upstairs. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING and extremely inappropriate. You can tell from the looks on Brandy and Monica's faces, who decided to not perform, that they were struggling with being there. There is a time to party and there is a time NOT to. That entire scene was extremely uncomfortable to look at. Chaka is absolutely right. Whitney would NOT have wanted the party to go on. Show some respect!

I agree also, did anyone take

I agree also, did anyone take in consideration how Whitney's daughter felt? To know her mom just passed and everyone is partying. Have some compassion. I realized when my mother passed that the only people that will care is your immediate family. When someone die everyone goes on with their life, and you have to live with that pain and hurt. God Bless whitneys family.

i 100% agree with Chaka!

i 100% agree with Chaka! Partying while Whitneys body is still upstairs? Clive should have been upstairs outside of that room! Dr. Drew also mentioned that Whitney should have NOT even been in any type of atmosphere where alcohol was involved because its too tempting for someone like Whitney. So Sad. honey, money comes and goes.

honey, money comes and goes. a life is irreplacable and a lost talent such as whitney is tragic. don't think for a second that any of those celebs would have felt a real monetary loss in not being able to attend clive's grammy party. my day went on unaffected after hearing of whiteny's passing (although i was saddened and reflective), but had she been a friend of mine, as some celebs are claiming she was to them, trust and believe you would not have caught me anywhere near a party or any social event for that matter. this really just goes to show how heartless some people are and how they don't respect the sanctity of life. a woman lost her life that night in the same hotel you're popping bottles and dancing in. are you serious? have you no compassion for her or her family. i'm so glad that chakka said something about this travesty. God bless her for her honesty and for truly honoring her friend with her words and actions. and kuddos to brandy and monica for doing the appropriate and respectful thing. again, life is irreplaceable and fleeting. i sincerely hope people begin to realize that and stop taking God's blessing for granted. and finally, shame on clive davis.

The right thing to do is

The right thing to do is cancel the PARTY. If that was his biological daughter - do you think he would have continue the party "NO" but he said on a 100 occasions that Whitney was like his child. He's already RICH - who cares how much money he spent. A life was lost and her body was lifeless on the 4th floor - while they were on the 1st floor partying. Akeys on the piano giving tribute song, while the dead woman is upstairs lifeless. That was just all STRANGE to me.
