Chaka Khan TALKS Whitney's Death, Says Clive Davis Should Have CANCELLED His Party!

Music icon Chaka Khan stopped by Piers Morgan's CNN show last night where she disagreed with Clive Davis saying there's no way Whitney would have attended a party if one of her friends had just died. She would not have wanted the music to keep playing. Get the deets inside.....

Chaka chatted with Piers Morgan last night and opened up about the death of friend Whitney Houston.

She said that Clive Davis' pre-Grammy party was "insanity" with one half of the room partying and the other half in tears. She added that she can't imagine Whitney would have said that "the show must go on."

Chaka revealed Whitney was the kind of woman who who has said, "I won't be there," if one of her friends died. She interestingly added that she blames whomever flew Whitney out to LA for a full week before the Grammys for what happened.

Talking about her own addiction, Chaka said entertainers are vulnerable and there are too many temptations in LA for someone like Whitney to be there for a FULL week with pretty much nothing to do except party.

Meanwhile, Whitney's body has been flown to New Jersey, via Tyler Perry's private jet, where the funeral will be taking place at the Prudential Center her childhood church and will be invite only.

Thank you Chaka for being the voice of sensibility in all of this. I was saying the same thing. She did not definitely have the right people around her to advise her and encourage her. I am not even in Hollywood and I never have gotten good vibes from Davis. He seems to be a wolf. He will move on to the next money maker.

Now we know why Whitney

Now we know why Whitney struggled so hard with her addiction. She new she was only as good as her last album. Clive let us know what he thought of Whitney. He has been in her life for over 2 years and he is still able to have an annual party!!!! really???? I'm sorry for all those in attendance if she was someone you truly loved, you wouldn't have been there. Hollywood have parties every night of the week. Not attending this one,so you can pay respect to an ICON would have been okay. You would have gotten another chance to "Hump a Leg".

Glad to see that at least

Glad to see that at least someone still has a heart and common sense. It was so disrespectful for the party to still be going on when Whitney had already died and was also on the 4th floor dead! Then the same stars have the nerve to say they feel sorry for Bobbi Kris? Do you really? I couldn't tell! What did they think she had earplugs on and didn't hear the loud music? Did they think she closed her hotel room blinds and curtains and didn't see those disgusting celebs on the red carpet and cheesing like everything was all good! I also don't buy it for one minute that Whitney's mom was okay with the festivities going on as planned. Clive is money hungry and was only concerned about him.
Anonymous's picture

I am going to say this right

I am going to say this right her and right now, let;s see how many people ACTUALLY step up and help Bobbi Kris. Whitneys estate has to be settled before any money gets dispensed(taht could take years, my aunt's estate too 5, yes 5 years) so let's see WHO will help out in the meantime

Let's remember all her so

Let's remember all her so called friends bo hoing about how much they loved Whitney. Five months from now I wanna see how many chipped in to help that chile out. So far we got Macy Gray, Brandi and Tyler Perry. Actions speak louder than words. Ain't try'n to hear all that, "I couldn't do cuz of x y z". Stars like Oprah are well known for telling her people don't come back until you get a yes. [insert smiling faces theme song]

Chaka Khan is so right! A

Chaka Khan is so right! A question for you all? Would you go to a party that is held downstairs while your friend's dead body is lying upstairs? And don't tell me everybody grieves differently! Pain is pain! if you have ever lost a loved one you can't sit here and tell me you will go to a party and mingle with people who do not give a shit about your friend, getting their party on like "your" friend is not lying upstairs dead with her kid in the hospital. I live amongst these entertainers, I hang around these entertainers and all I can say is- their world is the shallowest world anybody can live in and that is why most of them are on drugs or alcohol! Nobody can live in this world and be a normal human being! Some people go in with good intentions but after living the "Hollywood" life for a bit, you start becoming just like the rest of them-shallow, callous, manipulative, selfish, money hungry, social climbing excuses of human beings! And that is how you play the Hollywood game, everyone for themselves! So I am reading this article about how Clive Davis is having a hard time with Whitney’s death. He is not sure whether to go on with the party, not go to the party himself, cancel the party of what? And I am thinking to myself watch this, he is going to hold the party, and he is going to come out and say to the media "This is what Whitney would have wanted” And those were exactly his words! I wanted to throw up! And those were exactly the words of each and every artist who went to that party; the artists who claimed that they were inspired, friend of, bla bla bla of Whitney-yes you Kelly Rowland, Brandy, Monica, Diddy, Neyo, Alicia...These people who would be hogging the airwaves with all kind of “personal stories” about Whitney! These people are a whole bunch of self serving individuals! People in Hollywood do not go to parties to simply party; they go to parties to schmooze, social climb, meet that person who is going to make your hustle even better! These are just a bunch of hustlers who do not care for anyone else but "Me, myself and I". So when I see them going to this party all chocked up, crocodile tears with sad faces and all the fake somberness they could manage to display for the camera; and then when the cameras are off go inside and its PARTY TIME? Even worse, while the body of their so called "friend" is lying upstairs! While their so called friend's daughter is being rushed to the Hospital! Yeah what are they going to do next? Dance on Whitney’s Grave? I mean could any of you people on YBF do that? Party with no care in the world while your friend is dead upstairs? I mean damn I couldn't even do that to my enemy! That party was really in bad taste so bad that you could even hear the music pumping while the coroner was being interview at the scene. But hey! That is Hollywood for you, when your are on top everybody is your friend until shit goes down! And then the fact that you have no real friends but yes people all around aka the enablers? That is the dark side of Hollywood! All the money in the world could not replace the human need for real love and true companionship. The drugs and the alcohol are used to fill the hole of true human emotions. Sad

I also work in the business

I also work in the business and I agree with you 100%. This business will eat you alive or turn you into one of them. I am only begininng and luckily work in the accounting department, so I'm more so watching it all unfold instead of being mixed in. But I find myself quickly losing passion for my job and just being money hungry like them. I see the effects on others and how it rubs off on them and I just think since no one else in genuine and everyone is looking out for themselves and their money then I'll do the same. It's just a sad world we live in and Hollywood is the heart of that.

I am a mourning fan of

I am a mourning fan of Whitney Houston, and I am most concerned for her daughter at this time, Clive Davis helped Whitney achieve success and this man is old and we will never know the inside of their affection and relationship for one another. yes he makes money, but it does not make him her demon. And that party and those who chose to attend should not be our focus. Yes this is a forum to express what you feel, speculate etc., but each of our opinions come from outside observation and is being influenced by Chaka's personal situation. I love Chaka too and I want her to stay strong, and not start a feud so that she can be there for Bobbi K, and those folks that do not like each other need to make sure that the young woman get a united group of caring folks to see her through!

The party was not cancelled

The party was not cancelled because of money!!!!! This is what I believe. Now, I'm not saying it was right to continue to have the party; but think about in these terms, someone paid for the room; they paid for the food; if tickets were purchased, then money would have to be refunded. This party illustrate whats wrong with the music industry and corporate America. They value the dollar instead of the individual.

Of course it was about the lost money, but if there was ever a time to cancel a party and chalk up lost $$ (and I'm sure they had insurance for it), then DEATH would be the ultimate reason. There's no excuse other than greed and vanity for this.

I thought that party was so

I thought that party was so disrespectful I felt like Clive Davis would have been too distraught to even appear.. But to see him appear & continue as though her poor body & grief stricken daughter weren't above them. The ppl that were supposed to, claimed to love her mom the most mingled & partied while Whitney lay lifeless & her daughter be ushered back & forth stressed. The pre grammy party was just disgusting. If Clive had any respect or love for Whitney, as a jew there is no way he would have continued on with business a usual. Jews shut down when their loved ones & friends die, they sit shiva out of respect for the dead, even the most unorthodox jew observes shiva.. So Clive delivered the most insulting blow to whitney & her family. If anything that party should have become an impromptu memorial & gathering for those who were already there. They should have had the lights on music off & the only focus should have been to ensure the investigation taking place above them was thorough and complete and there to console & be supportive to bobbi kris... I love my girl chaka for putting him on blast and Celine Dion also expressed her outrage....

I agree. When i think of

I agree. When i think of Whitney's lifeless body upstairs in the very place where they were partying at. It reminds me of Rosemary's Baby. The scene where Rosemary walks into the apartment to see everyone drinking tea and taking pics, mingling etc with a demon baby in the room. Meanwhile Rosemary's freaking out calling them all mad. The pre-Grammy party continuing while all of that was going on above them is crazy. And shows a lack of respect also. To see them smiling in pics etc. Crazy. Makes me wonder what really goes on Hollywood, and are some of these people that detached from reality that they have no sense of right and wrong. Morals etc. All those things come into play. The last thing on any body's mind when a loved one has just died is partying. Smh!

To all the MOFOS (you know

To all the MOFOS (you know who you are) who are saying, "Well Clive got the go-ahead from her family to continue the party." Let's just take your (sick) scenario for a second. My daugther just died and you ask me about an effin' party. (First of all, blood of Jesus would be against you for even approaching me with that kind of question, moving on...) I would probably give some answer that may be diplomatic on the surface like, "go ahead, do what you think is beat..." while I'm thinking, "Did this agent of Satan just ask me about a party?" Let us be real: This was pure manipulation! Clive wanted the party to go on and probably told her family it would be a "tribute" so they wouldn't be offended. A 5-second moment of silence at the beginning of a shin-dig is no tribute and we all know it. What went down at that hotel is akin to folks tap-dancing, shukkin' n' jivin' on Whitney's grace. That is all.

Only in LA would people

Only in LA would people continue a party. Chaka being a veteran music star knows what she is talking about when questioning whos decision it was to have Whitney come to LA for a week before grammys no doubt in my mind it was Clive Davis himself and hes the one who pushed her into doing a tour last year & while claiming to have great love for the singer yet when she died he continued on his annual grammy party as usual. this is why I may miss the great music of 70s,80s & 90s those music artists had great record companies behind them but I dont mourn the lost of all the shady record execs like Clive Davis at all when he and his generation pasts it will be the best thing for music artists everywhere black or white.
Anonymous's picture

Everyone grieves differently

Everyone grieves differently so I cannot say what is or is not disrespectful. It's my understanding that Whitney was to perform the night of her untimely death. Clive may have thought that since everyone was there and many to support Whitney, going ahead with the party was a way to have everyone in one place to grieve and celebrate Whitney's life together. Chaka Khan is certainly entitled to her opinion but none of us -- not even Chaka Khan -- knows what Whitney Houston would or would not have done or wanted. What we do know is that the party was packed. Having a place to gather and meet after her untimely death may have been just what the party goers needed. Would it have been better for them to wail and moan in their respective hotel rooms? We also don't know what contact Clive Davis had with his god daughter or even what their relationship is to judge his actions. I'm more concerned that her father has taken days to be by her side -- that's more problematic to me. The point is, we're on the outside looking in making wholly uniformed judgments based on filtered information.
Anonymous's picture

If I had to bet my last

If I had to bet my last dollar, I would say that Whitney WOULD NOT have wanted them to party. I don't know how Blacks have become so whitewashed but it's sad. In our culture, when someone dies, EVERYTHING stops to show respect, and partying is the last thing you ever think about doing. If someone in my family died and I told my mother I was going out to a club, she would probably slap the taste out of my mouth. Clive Davis, like most white people, only care about and understand money and nothing else, and from some of the comments on here, too many of us are buying into this same money and materialist mindset as well.
Anonymous's picture

The problem is how we have

The problem is how we have been brainwashed into justifying this type of behavior...can you give us the thought process and reasoning of slave owners also? Posing on the red carpet when the coroner van is in eyesight is NOT ok...partying downstairs while your good "friends" corpse is upstairs is SICK!! Its insanity, it is satanic and demonic just like Chaka Khan stated...
MzCaliAttorney's picture

I understand what you're

I understand what you're saying but I disagree for the simple fact that when you suggest that a group is "brainwashed into justifying this type of behavior" you're saying that your opinion about how one should behave in this situation is the only right opinion on the subject. Your opinion leaves no room for anyone to deviate from how you believe they should grieve and show respect for the dead. That was part of the point of my post -- with only filtered snapshots of what occurred, not having any insight into the atmosphere of the party, and knowing nothing about the conversations and feelings about the party goers, you can't really judge.
Anonymous's picture

I dont know about you

I dont know about you Westerners but we Africans respect the dead and those that are grieved. There is no way in hell there was going to be a party even if the occasion was 14 hours away! We go into mourning, huddle together and comfort each other - whether one was a celebrity or not. No matter is more sacred when it comes to that. It's just a crass and frankly demonic thing to do.
Itty Bitty Pig(let)'s picture

Thank you Jesus! That's

Thank you Jesus! That's exactly what I'm saying: we have been BRAINWASHED by the Western mindset. I am an African American of Nigerian parentage, and I can tell you: no such thing would happen in my culture. Partying down stairs while death upstairs? Demonic indeed!

And on top of this, what

And on top of this, what paramedic performs cpr for 12 minutes and pronounces someone dead without taking them to the hospital to be officially pronounced by a medical doctor? Are they even allowed to pronounce someone d.o.a? Why wasn't she still taken to the hospital? Why did it take more than 12 hours for her body to be removed? I don't buy that her friends didn't know she was dead or that her body was still there, ANYBODY watching the news would know and im sure they were tuned into cnn or got first hand reports as to what was going on.
jennifer10's picture

I do agree with you that some

I do agree with you that some type of fuckery went on between the time her people found her & notified the paramedics. They're reporting that the bodyguard tried cpr for a while until they called for help but I truly believe that Whitney was gone before they found her so I guess they could've put on a show but for what, really? She was gone.

Chaka wasn't speaking nothing

Chaka wasn't speaking nothing but the whole entire truth! Not only did she say that the party should have been canceled, but she said the music industry is demonic. I'm surprised CNN didn't snatch her off the air because she wasn't sticking to the usual "stay positive, don't say anything negative" script.
Anonymous's picture

I agree with Chaka....when

I agree with Chaka....when they said Clive had gone ahead with the party....I wasn't shocked but I really did think it was a way to tribute Whitney. It wasn't until Monday that I saw videos where Pitbull was performing...clearly this wasn't the tribute that he said it would be. I can see why Clive did not cancel because of business obligations but he should have made sure it was a complete tribute to Whitney (e.g. a prayer, a song or two to tribute and then dinner, then everyone goes home). I expected better from Clive that's for sure considering just how CLOSE to Whitney he was, it should have been a true tribute to her.
Anonymous's picture

The only thing Clive cares

The only thing Clive cares about is his money...he made Whitney into his most prized commodity and just like MJ she became worth more dead than alive...
MzCaliAttorney's picture

I agree with Chaka. Whitney

I agree with Chaka. Whitney needed someone there with her to guide her. Yes she was 48, yet I believe she had major anxiety and it always helps to have a supporter there, maybe even her mother to spend time with her. Just having her body guard, her daughter, and hairstylist there on the trip with her did not cut it. Her voice will forever live on and I will always love her and her music!
TruStarr's picture

What is so disgusting to me

What is so disgusting to me is that not only was Whitney's body still in the building but her distraught child was there stricken with grief. Everyone claims they loved Whitney so much but where was the love and concern for her child. I will never support any of those "artists" who partied that night. Whitney had more talent in her little finger than all of them put together. They probably were high on their own prescribed medications so they didn't give a damn. It is so sad and pathetic how little people care about others.

People celebrating while

People celebrating while Whitney lay dead, her teenage daughter hysterical. Guess what , to all those attended the party and popped champaign:YOU WILL NEVER EVER EVER EVER IN A BILLION YEARS HAVE WHITNEY'S CAREER, SUCCESS, FAN WORSHIP. BECAUSE SHE WAS A REAL STAR. SHE DIDN'T HAVE TO RELY ON OTHER THINGS OUTSIDE OF ENTERTAINING HER FANS TO BE OUR STAR. SO ATTENDING A PARTY, TAKING PICTURES, SMOOZING, PUBLICITY WILL NEVER GET YOU TO A LEVEL OF WHITNEY, BECAUSE SHE HAD IT ALL. TALENT, BEAUTY, GRACE, CLASS, RESPECT FOR FELLOW MAN. AND I WAS TRYING TO UNDERSTAND CLIVE'S POSISTION.

I agree with everything both

I agree with everything both you and Chaka have said. Loves her and she looks so beautiful. When Chaka said she couldn't put on her make-up or anything to get ready to go the party, it made me think how did the others manage it. Because like Chaka i too couldn't put on make-up and a cute ensemble to go to a party, knowing that not only has someone close to me died. But the persons body is still upstairs in the place where the party is. It's insane. On top of that one half of the room was crying and the other half was partying the night away. Smh! Sounds very creepy.
