DO GOODER: Dwight Howard Hits Tanzania...With $80K For Schools

Instead of spending his time suing his baby mama, The Orlando Magic's power forward Dwight Howard has been putting his time to better use via his D12 foundation to make an impact on the educational opportunities for children in Tanzania. Get the deets on his good deeds inside.......

This past week, Dwight Howard joined executives from his D12 Foundation on a trip to the United Republic of Tanzania where he visited the Kipok Secondary School in the Monduli region and the Lunguya Secondary School in Shinyanga. While there, Dwight donated more than $80K to their educational efforts.

Dwight's donation will be used to build dormitories on the grounds of each school so that the young girls are safe from danger and are provided three meals a day.

Asked about his donation, Dwight said,

"Our donation is just a start for the future of the youth in Tanzania. If we can protect them while they obtain an education, we protect their future and the future of Tanzania."

Dwight also visited the International School of Tanganyika 'ss Secondary School Campus in Dar es Salaam. While there, he taught basketball skills and delivered a motivational message to the students. Sweet!

It's great to see Dwight doing big things around the world with his resources. It's amazing that over the past year, he also found time to help rebuild houses in Alabama after the 2011 tornadoes and to serve as a Celebrity Ambassador for the Big Brothers Big Sisters Start Something Campaign.

How about doing something for African-American schools??? Do you think someone Tanzanian is EVER going to do something to "help" African-Americans, when their own people are suffering or in need?? Hell no! They're smart. They will help their own people first, and they understand that by helping their local community, they can then help Black people on a global scale. African-Americans are the only idealistic fools who don't understand this very basic Black principle. Caribbean people understand that. It doesn't need to be explained to them. African people DEFINITELY understand that. It doesn't need to be explained to them, they get it. Latin-Americans understand that (hells yes) they don't need anyone to explain that basic principle to them. But African-Americans?? They spend their time trying to emulate their White counterparts, and send their checks to Africa instead of helping their own people. They think they're being noble, when in the end, they're only hurting themselves and their people.

I think this is great. I love

I think this is great. I love to see celebs and athletes give back. Not downing him or anyone else, but I would actually love to see more people give back in the US, though. I know there are a lot of schools, neighborhoods, etc that could use $80K. Again, now downing, just saying. Great to see such a selfless act.
