Beyonce stans just helped her latest album, 4, reach platinum status. Deets inside....

According to her official website, Beyonce's album 4 has been certified platinum by the RIAA. A statement on the site read....

"4 has been certified Platinum by the RIAA. Thank you to all the fans that purchased the album. We hope you’re enjoying it as much as we are.”

Beyonce recently revealed that the year she took off work was to protect her mental health.

“I couldn't even tell which day or which city I was at,” she told The Sun. “I would sit there at ceremonies and they would give me an award and I was just thinking about the next performance. I never really thought about how fortunate I was - it was onto the next project and the next day.”

Well now that she has her fourth platinum solo album under her belt, it looks like the rest paid off.

According to Soundscan - which talliess the actual sales of albums and singles; for the week of July 27th 2011 Beyonce 4 sold 551,654 in total which is gold. Publicists often report how many records have been shipped as opposed to sold. Just because one has shipped platinum (i.e. sent a million records to retailers) does not mean they will sell all of those units. Please be accurate in your reporting, it is very simple for people to research this information; false information only undermines this site's credibility.

I think the retailers order an purchace the album at a discount price. then they mark it up for profit. If they shipped 1,000,000 then I guess 1,000,000 is sold to the retailer and they make their money back off of you.

Oh no, she barely went GOLD last week. She is NOT PLATINUM in the US. A million copies were not sold here, a million was shipped. There's a difference. So yea, she's only Gold. Out of all 4 albums this has done the worst. I like it, but it isn't doing so well.
