Clifford "T.I." Harris Rocks Double Covers Of UPSCALE's September/October 2010 Issue

Well here's some morning swexiness to get your ass out the bed. The newly married, and official blockbuster producer, Clifford "T.I." Harris, is sexing up not one...but 2...covers of UPSCALE mag's September/October 2010 issue.

We've got the first look at both dapperfied covers, plus why his arrogance is his best character trait, why being loyal gets tiresome, leaving hip-hop behind, and which specific quality he loves in a woman when you read on...

I do love a man in a tailored suit. Nice.

Here's a few quotes from T.I. in this month's issue:

On his new album:
This project just like all of my projects will be a open window into my life, what I’m going through, how I feel and where I am right now.

On where he is:
I’m still learning and growing everyday. I do believe this project is in some ways the final installment of a trilogy. TI vs. TIP being the first one…. I hope that events of my life are captured in music in all of my records. So they were there for the beginning, they saw the middle (with Paper Trail) and now the only thing left to be seen is the conclusion.

On the advice he’d give to young Clifford Harris:
I would say man, if you knew what I knew, you would chill out… I would tell myself you’re going to be alright later on, all you have to do is cool out, you might not see it right now, but you have a reason to fall back. I just hope that I would listen.

On his best and worst character traits:
I can manage to be arrogant or confident as well as be humble and possess a certain level of humility. I can be aggressive and I can also be mild mannered.

On his future in hip hop:
I know I still have the ability to do it, but I don’t know if I have as much passion to do it as I once did… I might find that I’m more effective in another capacity, but I won’t know if I don’t ever try. I have other talents and abilities that I may not be paying any attention to because I have this first one that I’m very fond of and I’ve grown attached to… As an artist I still would like to be better, but as an artist, I think TI has had a stellar career already.

On loyalty getting in the way of business:
…If I say I’m gonna ride with you, I’m gonna ride with you. That’s personally, professionally. So even if I know that you might not be all what everyone else thinks you’re cracked up to be, I’m still gonna ride it out with you. It does get tiresome and it does get gruesome at time, but I don’t know no other way to be.

On being a daddy:
I make them look up different places and ask them where would they like to go. I just spend time with them. I try to stimulate their interests and build on that.

On his favorite quality in a woman:
Just having that instinct of when to take charge and when to fall back.

Back off people...this cover was decided upon, shot, written and put to bed LONG before he and Tiny made their mistake. Now, given T.I. is not a "normal" upscale cover, but he was worth it. He had been on a a different path and I really don't think is derailed from that, despite is bad decision. I love reading how you all harp on how much black mags are lacking when you don't have one clue what goes into it and if you did, you'd be a bit more objective.

Hell, a street education that made a way for a platinum album is just fine!! T.I. is great I like him more and more each day especially when I started to realize how smart he is. but what's up with the photography for Black magazines? We really have to step our game up people. Why would a double cover look almost exactly the same from his facial expression to the way he's holding his hands? It almost looks like they just airbrushed a different outfit on him.
One cover should have been maybe more action or laid back or fun and the other more glammed up or serious, they should have just been more different.
The photography, editing and direction of Black magazines is always so lacking and I don't know why. There's enough of us out there needing jobs in those areas!

It's almost amazing to me how

It's almost amazing to me how judgmental people can be.
EVERYONE makes mistakes. YES... MISTAKES. And while some of you like to say "How is being a drug dealer a mistake?" or "He's a felon" fail to realize that the mistake was in the judgment call, not the action. The mistake was choosing to do something out of free will. But the GREAT NEWS is the Bible says "We have ALL sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God" and he loves and forgives us anyway.

As far as him wanting a woman who knows when to "take charge and when to fall back" may seem controlling by today's standards. But biblically, the man is supposed to care for his wife and head his household. He is the primary decision maker and his wife is supposed to be his "helpmate". Meaning she supports him and stands behind him. (Ephesians 6 - read it sometime)

And my last point, while I am an advocate for education, I feel it is only necessary for personal betterment. I feel that going to college does not indicate that you're smarter than the next person. only that you had the desire/means to attend traditional schooling there are PLENTY of self taught intellects (Bill Gates being Americas favorite). I just wish you all would be more cautious when passing judgment. We're all entitled to out opinions, but come 'on. Is the hating neccessary?

Miss Neek We differ regarding the biblical roles of men and women but I completely agree with you regarding education and I am someone who is college educated and LOVES school. I plan to be a lifelong student always studying something but yes there is such a thing as being self-taught and college isn't for everyone.
Let's understand that the idea of free and accessible public education was not so that everyone would have equal opportunity to succeed and all that jazz schools try to advocate now. It was created due to the influx of immigrants and cultures and as a means to 'teach' these people how to speak English and 'properly behave' by standards that were set by who the hell knows. So public education was created essentially as a means to eradicate aspects of cultures America found undesirable. And still to this day that attitude remains with so many children of different races and cultures being unfairly shuttled into special eduction or labeled with ADD or other 'disorders' because they don't conform to the one standard set for everyone.
If you are artistic or have a different learning style you may not succeed in school but it doesn't mean you're not smart. T.I. and Jay-Z, Bill Gates and Drake, Nas and Dave Thomas(founder of Wendy's!) Quentin Tarentino, Richard Pryor and many, many other very successful people have no more than a high school education, some of the ones on this list don't even have that and they can probably converse on all types of subjects, they read all types of books and know all types of things.

If people want to bring religion into it who gave Jesus his degree in Humanities? Or Muhammad his in Theology? People expand your minds, like I said I have several pieces of paper with my name and a shiny sticker on it but that doesn't mean I would ever, EVER think I'm better than anyone who doesn't or refuse advise from them. That would make me judgmental and just plain foolish.

It can also help you in your relationships and help you be a better parent. TI fails in ALL areas. He can't even communicate in an intelligent way and sorry what he did was not any “MISTAKE”. It kills me how willing people like you are to make excuses for abhorrent behavior. TI was already a FELON when he was caught with those guns. And he was also already a boyfriend and a father when he made those selfish decisions. And who was raising HIS children when he was in JAIL (AGAIN). Was this a time his now wife was supposed to be supportive or fall back you let me know? These are the very reasons why African Americans are in the shape that they are because people like YOU cherry pick on what's appropriate behavior. And the Bible can't be used to prop up TI. PLEASE! He only RECENTLY married Tiny. And she's been the rock "holding him down" from day one while he made so many poor decisions and I'm sure while he was also with many other women. He does not even respect his wife enough to wear his ring on his FINGER!

He puts up with soooooo much from us with NO judgments yet just as soon as we (as people) are forgiven for some crap we've done we're quick to go judge someone else for falling short from what we think is right. I wonder how you have lived your life in order to be so judgmental about a man u clearly do know know. While there are many hip-hop artists who make complete garbage T.I is not one of them. He makes poetry over music. People have the assumption that being a successful rap or hip-hop artist is easy. To remain relevant in this type of industry takes and unbelievable amount of talent, tenacity and will. People forget the circumstances in which he went into prison. He was caught trying to purchase firearms. Undoubtedly that is a criminal offense, but understand that his est friend/bodyguard was murdered..and at the time he was receiving death threats as well. I believe that he was trying to protect himself, his family and investments. However, he went about acquiring these firearms in an illegal way. Regardless of those infractions he has accomplished a lot in his desired fields and should he lauded for that. "Rap Music" is extremely influential all across the world. And this is just one of our contributions. YOU should seriously consider repeating positive affirmations or something..all that negativity isn't healty!

Blog allows us to state OUR opinions and views. And when I speak I'm talking about what I'm doing. I'm personally not supporting people like TI. PERIOD! TI does not matter in my life. I find him to be a complete idiot if you want to know the truth. I don't worship people because they "hustle or make millions by any means they can devise. Money alone does not earn MY respect because I come from a family that is very Successful and well off. An Educated family. My family has values and history.

There is nothing special about money. But to those who never had any I can see why you might look up to TI or your local Drug Dealers in the Hoods you live in. Nothing new there! Maybe that is why you're there to start with. People who down education and think you don't need it are the very people who live lives that are without morals or values. These are the people who think criminality is "a mistake" easily forgiven because they worship Money by Any means and those who share that goal.
I thank GOD I don't live like that.

Your comments are priceless. The epitomy of arrogance (SIN). Having an opinion is one thing, referring to T.I. as street trash is another. You just sinned. Regardless of what you think about him doesn't mean you have the right to call him out of his name. You should read the bible. Your last statement says it all..."I thank God I don't live that." When the pharises where critizing and judging others, the main quote that came out of their mouths was "I thank God, I'm not like these people. Sin is Sin. That's why God didn't differentiate amongst sin because he knew us carnal human beings would try to put a hierarchy on sin and decide what was more right or wrong in our carnal eyes.

I'm speechless. I never knew I came off that way.
I will take into consideration what you typed because you typed it well articulated and it was so exact that I'm a little ashamed of what I wrote. I just re-read it and i'm a little stunned at how harsh and arrogant it was in "tone". If I offended you I am sorry. I think I get very annoyed when people prop up these types of criminals like we don't have better examples to pick from. I just don't respect people like TI. But I did not mean to suggest that there was some type of hierarchy in terms of a judgement. I did not mean to judge just to say I don't want to prop him up as some were doing. He does not deserve that in my view.
