Bump What You Heard, "Takers" Is #1 + T.I. Talks Making A Prequel

T.I. and the rest of the "Takers" cast are on top of the world right now. As the star and co-producer of the newly verified #1 film in the country, he recently gave an interview about the rankings discrepency over the weekend, and making a prequel for the movie.

Read on for the deets...

BET: Takers was in less theaters than its competition but still managed to rock the number one spot. What do you think it was about this film?

We were in less theaters but we had a higher per screen average, which means after the math was done the number of people that showed up, the number of sold-out shows we had exceeded the number of sold-out shows our competition had. Although it was believed and perceived that we would fall to the number two slot, the support of the people, word of mouth, the quality of the film and just the energy associated with the project is what catapulted us into the number one slot. We couldn’t have done it without the people. We appreciate it!

BET: I’m seeing on various web sites that Takers was number one, and then Exorcism was number one. Why is there this indecisiveness on which film topped the box office?

You know, in film, it’s much different than music; they count dollar for dollar, hour for hour. In doing that there are estimations that are given — they reported this morning from numbers that came in last night. With those numbers they estimated the end-all-be-all would be the competition being number one and Takers being number two. But this morning, after those estimations have already been reported, the final numbers came in from Sunday night. When all those numbers came in, Takers was indeed number one — officially. They made estimations and kind of prematurely got that word out and miscalculated. The final call is Takers is number one. The people demanded it, as they should — and they got what they wanted.

BET: I know it’s fairly early but do you see anywhere in the future a Takers sequel?

I’m a step ahead of you — I just got off the phone with the director, writer, the head of Screen Gems and the label heads over at Sony. We are working not on a sequel, but a prequel to tell the back story of the characters.

The mainstream box office rankings like Yahoo and Monsters & Critics still haven't updated their list with the final numbers that show Takers edged out The Last Exorcism on the final day. And they probably won't. But we all know the deal. Congrats to director Will Packer and the cast!

I saw it twice! I'm happy for the whole cast and can't wait to see the prequel. Sistas had me cracking up in the movie theatre with that bedroom scene with Idris Elba. I mean the whole room took a deep inhale and gasped at the same time with that shot of a bulge in his underwear. And then ppl freaking out at CB's chase scene! The movie was entertaining and loved the eye candy!!!

My baby chris did his thing

My baby chris did his thing and ti as well. Ti really surprised me all the guys are sexy and hot, very easy on the eyes i enjoyed it. It was almost like a male version of the movie set it off but with a twist, and that scene with idris in his boxer briefs is to die for lol, and chris brown had me at the end of my seat in the scene where he was running my baby ran for his life lol it was very entertaining check it out guys it was great.

The movie was cool buttttttt,

The movie was cool buttttttt, it could have been developed a bit more... it seemed a bit rushed. Also, whoever the main director was.... needs to go back to class or something because the first 30 minutes of that movie, I got a bit dizzy. They were all over the place, zooming back stuff too quick and a few scenes were too blurry. But I supported, happy for them. CB did his thing during the chase scene, I'm sure he'll be getting more roles in the future just because of that scene alone and also the fact he did his own stunts.

I did enjoy Takers and will go to see the prequel and a sequel if made. Me and my girls probably pushed it to #1. We needed to get another glimpse of Idris in his skivies and the other hot actors.

'Deuces' is currently #2 on Billboard's R&B/Hip Hop chart. They've noted it as an "Airplay Gainer". It's the ONLY-said top-10 entry that is "so-noted ..!" That chart updates THIS Thursday; Chris will THEN have the #1 R&B/Hip Hop song, and be prominently placed-in, as co-star/executive producer, with the longest-continuous scene, in the said NOW-realized, #1-MOVIE in ALL of THESE 50 United States Of America ...!! When's the last time y'all saw that happen ...??? The scenes that drew the most audience reaction: 1.) Chris' chase scene (Longest-continuous scene in the entire movie) 2.) Idris Elba getting out of that bed (women LOVED it; made 'em whisper, it did!!) 3.) That "disappearing armored-truck trick" (My favorite) 4.)
