SPLITVILLE: Mel B. & Stephen Belafonte?!

Oh no! Word has it, one of our fave YBF chicks is headed for divorce. Read on for deets on why Mel B. and her hubby Stephen Belafonte may be headed down Splitsville Lane...

According to the UK tabloid The Mirror, Mel B.'s hubby Stephen is ready to call off his marriage. How convenient that all this divorce talk is happening only a week before their family reality show debuts. And even more odd that the couple just hit a Pre-Emmy party in West Hollywood (pictured above) arm in arm last night. Stephen allegedly called up the paper to rant and rave about the marriage being "over".

According to the Mirror, it's all because of jealousy and drama:

The film producer told me in an emotional telephone outburst from the States: “Dude, it’s over. Mel’s coming back to the UK soon – but I won’t be coming with her.”

And I can reveal he has talked to lawyers in Los Angeles about a divorce from Scary Spice Mel.

The couple wed in 2007 just six months after Mel’s bitter split from actor Eddie Murphy – dad of her daughter Angel, three.

Only days ago the couple, both 35, were photographed kissing over lunch, and Mel has posted Twitter updates referring to her “hubby”.

But pals have said for months that the pair’s rollercoaster relationship was finally hitting the rocks.

And now Belafonte admits divorce is on the way. He told me: “There’s been problems lately. I don’t know what’s happening.”

A friend of Mel said: “They’ve not been happy for a long time and there’s been rowing.

“Mel’s been talking about getting out. They’re still talking to see if things can be worked out.

“But she’s making plans to come back to the UK on a more permanent basis. Stephen hasn’t been mentioned as joining her and has been consulting lawyers.”

...

But the source said: “Part of the problem is jealousy. They are both livid when the other one gets attention for another person. They constantly want to know where the other one is… it’s been an ongoing problem right from the start.”

Mel has 2 kids from previous relationships. And Stephen has a 6 year old from his previous relationship. And when these two got married in their secret wedding back in '07, Mel's mom was one of many people who called their relationship a "mistake".

Did the reality curse hit these two before their show even aired? Is this just a publicity ploy to get more momentum for their new reality show? Or is Mel B. about to pack her ish and head back to England for good? Time will tell...
