Nicki Minaj Speaks On Lauryn Hill Comparisons+Chris Brown Gets An "A" For Effort From The Judge

Nicki Minaj has some words for you re: those Lauryn Hill comparisons we all laughed about weeks ago. And we're still laughing. Plus, an update on Chris Brown's probation progress report when you read on....

CNN asked Nicki Minaj about those Lauryn Hill comparisons Irv Gotti tossed out last month. And she defended him saying the comparisons would make sense if we were all privy to Nicki's unreleased music that Irv is privy to:

“Irv has been privy to hear things that I’ve done that the world hasn’t heard,” she says. “Based on the music I have out now, that sounds like an absurd comment, but when ‘Pink Friday’ comes out, you will completely understand why Irv made that comparison.”

We still don't believe you. You need more people.

In court yesterday

In other news, Breezy copped an "A" on his progress report yesterday from the L.A. county judge Patricia Schnegg. He has been completing his probation requirements and abiding by all rules necessary, the judge said yesterday.

"You're doing very well on probation," Schnegg told Brown. "You're doing a great job."

Brown, 21, did not speak during the hearing.

The judge said Brown had consistently worked to satisfy his six-month community labor sentence, but she did not say how many hours he had completed.

Schnegg also noted she had read positive reports from a domestic violence counseling program attended by Brown.

Chris' lawyer Mark Geragos actually said that Breezy has already completed about 300 hours of his 6 month community service hour requirement.

I can't speak for anyone

I can't speak for anyone else, but I guess my passion comes from 2 things. One is the fact that I love music and I consider myself pretty knowledgeable when it comes to music so it kind of makes me mad that a lot of today's artists are getting paid all this money to be good musicians and I know they are not doing it. Most of them, and I'm not just talking about Nickie, are not good at what they supposedly do. Their horrible actually and lackluster performers at best. I guess I'm starting to realize that the days of dynamic performers and gifted singers and gifted lyricists are truly over. It makes me sad and mad because, again I love music so much. The second reason and most important reason that I sound so passionate on my comments is because I now have my almost 2 year old son. He's made me look at things differiently. I see how far down music has gone and I wonder how bad it will be when he is a teenager, I mean will they be showing actual nudity and sex acts while they poor liquor down womens throats on 106&park and mtv by then. Seriously, the way things are going, I don't think this is too far fetched to assume. I wonder why a show like 106&park which is geared toward young teenagers and young adults continues to glorify artists like Nickie Minaj who encourage young ladies to demean themselves and encourage young men to demean women. But don't get me wrong, while I think Beyonce does have talent and she is a dynamic performer she too uses that talent to further that same agenda that I am speaking of. The music has become enthralled in sleaziness and while I know it has always had a certain amount of that in it, I certainly didn't think that the day would come where that was all it had. This too makes me sad and mad especially for the kids.
