Ne-Yo Owes A Baltimore Club Promoter $196K+Usher's New Vid

After skipping out on a New Year's Eve gig back in '08, Ne-Yo now owes a Baltimore club promoter an apology that's worth $196,000. Plus we've got Usher's new video when you read on...

Remember that New Year's Eve gig Ne-Yo was supposed to perform at back in 2008, but decided to just skip out on it? The problem is, contracts were in place, as well as a $95,000 deposit shelled out to him. Ne-Yo kept the deposit, and was a no-show for the event. This past Tuesday, a judge ordered him to pay up:

Anne Arundel County Circuit Judge Philip Caroom ordered the payment Tuesday after a four-day trial in late July and early August.

Promoter Kenyohn Clark sued Ne-Yo, whose real name is Shaffer Smith, and Maryland-based promoter Mike Esterman. The judge ruled in favor of Clark, who claimed that Esterman misled him and failed to return a $95,000 deposit.

Court documents show Ne-Yo testified at trial that he knew in his "heart of hearts" that the deposit should have been returned to Clark.

Mike Easteman did this once

Mike Easteman did this once before to a promoter I know a few years ago. They were trying to book Don Omar and they were told it was 150,000.00. He also put in a bid for Baby Bash and paid a deposit for Bash. When it was time to put the deposit down on Don Omar, He contacted Don Omar's personal manager to verify the price and found out that not only was the price to much but that he was not even available for the date he requested. He then contacted Bash's manager and found out that his price was 20K less than he was booked for. When my friend contacted Easterman, they refused to return his deposit saying it was non-refundable. Bash's people said they never received the deposit it went to Easterman. Sometimes it is not the artist it is the booking agent who scams innocent people of their money.
