FOOLYWANG MATERIALZ: Da DEA Wantz You! Ebonics Translators Needed Foe Jobz 'N Stuff

Next time you see Pookie, Ray-Ray or Tyrone, you tell them the DEA is looking for them.  And no, didn't nobody snitch on them.  The DEA "got jobs" for them.  "The Man" is actively recruiting persons fluent in Ebonics (Ebony + Phonics) to translate wire tapes used to fight the drug trade.  I kid you not.  Read on for the deets...

Remember when you first heard about "Ebonics" and you had to either defend it or deny it to your white friends?  Well, it's back...and in a big way.  And this time, the government is cosigning on its importance.  The Drug Enforcement Administration is seriously seeking to hire nine people to translate conversations picked up on wiretaps during investigations.  An inquiry was sent to contractors as part of a request to companies to provide hundreds of translators in 114 languages.  And Ebonics is one of them.

Special Agent Michael Sanders of the DEA said today:

"The DEA's position is, it's a language form we have a need for.  I think it's a language form that DEA recognizes a need to have someone versed in to conduct investigations."

Seeking to hire translators in Atlanta, Georgia; Washington D.C.; New Orleans, Louisiana; and Miami, Florida; the job entails listening to wiretaps, translating what was said, and being able to testify in court if necessary.

I can help them out with this.  And yes, I'm throwing all PC'ness out the window.  Set up a booth at the Bayou Classic, a hair-weave and wig convention, Stripper-Fest 2010, the next fight in Vegas/Atlantic City, or they could just pick one of those cities and have a big fish fry on a Friday.  You build it...The candidates will come.  Trust me.  This is not a hard process.  I wish I was hired as a recruiter and was getting a commission off this because I swear I could have all nine positions filled in between commerical breaks of "Judge Judy."

So, if you know somebody who's looking for a gig, have them hit up the DEA.  Now...you might still have to do a drug test and background check.  But if you can prove you are the best person for the position...they may just bend the rules.

SIDEBAR:  It's hard for folks to catch a break when they get out of jail.  Just a thought..why don't they hire people who are recently released for minor, or hell...even major...drug-related offenses? They are already versed in the field.  We REALLY don't have to overthink this.
