Halle Berry Wigs Out For VOGUE's September 2010 Cover

Ms. Berry has landed the coveted September issue of the bible of the fashion world.  Halle's rocking an abrupt blunt cut brown wig and looking fabulous on the cover of VOGUE's September 2010 issue.

We've got pics and quotables from her cover story about motherhood, her love of nudity, marriage, and more when you read on...

On how much motherhood means to her:

"I have a new focus that's outside myself," she says, "and that feels really good, in your 40s, to have arrived at that place. I'm actually lucky and grateful that I waited until an age when I can really be present. I saw my mother in her early 20s having two little kids, and I don't think she enjoyed me at two the way that I enjoy my daughter. She didn't have that luxury." She gets a funny, thoughtful look on her face. "Nature has got it all wrong: When you are younger, it should be harder to get pregnant, and as you get older it should be easier. When you are so ready, you can't do it to save your life. And when you are 21, you are so not ready, but you are ripe as could be. The eggs should become more developed the older you get, not die slowly from the day you're born. That's one thing God got wrong."

On her biggest fear for daughter Nahla:

"I worry that this whole insatiable appetite for celebrity children will somehow adversely affect Nahla. I don't think it's fair, and I don't think it's safe. How will she grow up, having been objectified like this for most of her whole young life? Already they write things about her: Oh, she looks like this; oh, she looks like that. But nobody knows her. They just pick her apart on a very superficial level. How will I be able to help her keep that in perspective in this town?" To that end, she recently rented a house in San Francisco to spend time alone with Nahla away from the glare of celebrity. She's considering moving there full time, "to have her grow up in a place that is less of a fishbowl."

On her love of nudity:

"If the world wouldn't persecute me, I'd take nude pictures every day of the week."

On whether her vow to never marry again still stands:

"Yes," she says. "I'm not done with love, but I refuse to settle. I am a hopeless romantic. And I won't stop till I get it right."

"I don't think I'm unlike a lot of people. I am just someone who is trying to find that mate, and I think it's a really hard thing to do. And I'm not willing to stay somewhere where I am really not happy. And I am not willing to pretend I am for the kid's sake or so that I don't have to go through another public humiliation."

On her relationship with ex-boyfriend and baby's daddy Gabriel:

"It's just that you realize you are not meant to go the distance with everybody," she says. "We were meant to bring this amazing little person into the world. And I think that's why we came together. And because of that, we are going to be together forever, all three of us. We are a family until we are not here anymore."

You can read much more of her interview over at Vogue as they discuss her brutal workout with Gunnar Peterson, the new women's homes she's remodeling, amd more.

A few gorgeous outtakes:

I like the wig, looking for one for my self. I think BeverlyJohnson was on the cover of Vogue or was she the first black woman to be on the cover of Bazaar?

Hate the wig. Vogue didn't

Hate the wig. Vogue didn't want her too look black by having one of those short hairstyles we have. having said that black women don't buy vogue anyway so why should they cater to us. September is the biggest issue of the year, and sales usually go DOWN when they put a black model on the cover. So they're being brave and/or experimenting to see what happens is they put a black celebrity will black girls buy then? or do they only buy "Black Hair Magazines" because they only dress one way anyway. . . . Micro Minishirts, 2 sizes too small jeans, baby doll shirts, and Platform heels.

I think Halle Berry looks

I think Halle Berry looks great! The wig is different but that is one Black lady who can work about any look, style, outfit! Vogue is quite a coup for the September issue no less. Quit hating on her because she is a bi-racial woman who knows she is a Black woman. How can we expect Hollywood to treat us differently when within our own race we differentiate between our light skin and our darker skin sistahs! She is so right about her daughter because they seem to like to post the pictures when she is not smiling. With a mother like that I am sure that sweet child laughs and smiles alot. She was trying to share her thoughts and all you want to do is criticize someone else's opinion. Difference of opinion, everyone has one. Quit hating so much.

IT'S THE SEPTEMBER ISSUE AND

IT'S THE SEPTEMBER ISSUE AND THERE'S A BLACK WOMAN ON IT!!!! Isn't this what we've been asking for? The September issue is the most important issue of the year! I think she looks absolutely stunning! I love it all... Go head, Halle. You are our only A-list actress and you represent us well. Even if you are slightly crazy, you can do no wrong in my book...

Errr at least she

Errr at least she acknowledged that GOD is the creator! She could have easily said science/nature got it wrong. In Hollywood nowadays you would be hard pressed to find big superstars utter the Lords name unashamedly and she did....I think she is right, women should be able to conceive much more easier when they are older but that is not to say that it should be harder for young women. Just give us women who are in our 30s and determined to work hard to give our kids everything when we bring them into this world, a fighting chance! As for her not being able to keep a man, please, having or keeping a man is not a measure of a woman's success or greatness. It is pretty shallow to think that way. Why can't people just have debates rationally for crying out loud!

Wow...saying that God got something wrong made my spirit uneasy! The tongue can kill you and everything that is precious to you...I wish her well. I also feel that it isn't fair that creating a child becomes difficult when you are more mature but the flip side could be that God's intention is for us to become great grandparents! :) Just sayin

Agreed. I was a little unsettled by that statement myself. I honestly feel like as much as Halle doesn't want her daughter to be adversely affected by hollywood, she herself has been. It seems like she and other celebrities have this inflated sense of self-importance that makes them think it's okay to question everything - even God. Fyi Halle, God doesn't get anything wrong. smh...

Love Ms. Berry!! She just gets better with age. I agree with you on her fears for Nahla. That woman and her child don't get a break when it comes to the paps. Now I understand privacy is out the window when it comes to the lives of celebrity, but I guess so does compassion too. Moving somewhere secluded where her child can live a normal life, shows how unselfish she is. You go Ms. Berry!

Like my ghetto cousin says, "That fool ignant." LOL. But for real though no one is tryna bust out the babes at no 40+ granted I had my daughter at 17 and it was certainly a life lesson. If I had it my way I would have had my daughter AFTER I completed college. But I guess what she was trying to say was she believes women should enjoy their lives before they become mothers. We're entitled to our own opinions so hey I pass no judgement. She's ok in my book and just as pretty as she wants to be.

I swear, it is RIDICULOUS how some people find every way possible to make everything about race. Its 2010 in case you have not realized! "oh Vogue would have never let a dark skinned..." Couldn’t thank Vogue enough!

Couldn’t thank Vogue enough! Our interracial goddess with non threatening features has landed the coveted cover of Vogue! Brava! Bring out the rose pedals! Maybe we'll be lucky to have Rihanna on the next cover. Oh please! Please! please Vogue! This makes what, the 6th black woman to be sprinkled on the cover of Vogue? versus hundreds of white woman who’ve adorned the magazine in the past. Lmbo…Halle is boring and overrated. Nia Long (her chocolate equivalent) would have been a better fit if what they really wanted was to feature a black woman. Supposedly Halle represents all black beauty…right! So where’s the token in that?
the truth's picture

You sound like you may have a

You sound like you may have a color complex issue, ill never understand people who have a problem with others because they are mixed..its just not that serious.
AnonyMiss's picture

While I respect your

While I respect your response, I wouldn’t say I have a color complex. I am well informed about the disadvantages of this world for colored women. I am simply pointing out the disproportionate treatment and disadvantages in the industry for darker women. I am mixed but I have a darker complexion than my siblings. I have heard all my life how different I am because of it. Even though I had the same features (long soft hair, nice skin) I could never amount to my siblings. Living that reality at home and having to face that reality in society, at the work place, at the concessions stands, with every magazine cover with a white woman is what I am essentially pointing out here. Yes! Halle is gorgeous but her beauty has been celebrated so many times. I’m just saying its time for another shade of chocolate that’s all.
the truth's picture

Maybe it was just the way you

Maybe it was just the way you came acrossed in your original post that was a turn off...it just sounded like you were ranting and being condescending at first. I can respect your opinion. I think women of color of all shades are beautiful and yes maybe they should celebrate that in Hollywood but I think our own race needs to get over our own issues with color and appreciate all shades before anyone else can. Thats all.
AnonyMiss's picture

I was actually poking fun at

I was actually poking fun at an earlier post. Black people always want to praise the one light skinned grl that makes it to the top, but its like no there have been extraordinary women at the top long before her (who graced the cover too). It’s nothing special, but people treat it as such because Miss Berry is highly celebrated in both the black and white world of media as a great beauty. It’s the worship that annoys me. People didn’t make this much noise when Janelle Monae posed in Vogue! 3 times to be exact. Lol

No Halle GOD got it right.

No Halle GOD got it right. Most women dont want to be 40,50,60 raising babies.
WTFudge?'s picture

So it's God that leads women

So it's God that leads women in their teens and 20's to have and raise kids? I don't get your point or your criticism. Why wouldn't you want to be in your 40's, 50's or 60's raising your own kids? If you had your own kids in your teens and 20's, your probably going to be raising your grandkids by that time anyway.
Anonymous's picture

I think most people don't

I think most people don't understand that when it comes to raising children its an individual choice. And everyone is at a different point in their lives. Some choose to have children young and some at an older age.
Anonymous's picture

Halle looks good for her age

Halle looks good for her age yes! we all know that but let me say something Hollywood will ONLY give a light skin bi-racial women the front cover of VOGUE!!!!! they would never focus on a dark skin women who is a very talented actress. Viola Davis is 100X BETTER!!!! than Halle Berry but she doesn't get the credit she deserves!!! Halle Berry played some ho! in Monster's Ball and fuck'd Billy Bob Thronton for the role!!! The role was originally for Angela Bassett but she said "she didn't want to play a stereotypical role" the Black women having a relationship w/ a white man and giving him sex!!! Angela Bassett is stronger/smarter than Halle Berry!!!! Halle only uses her looks she is NOT a superb actress!!!!
Hallewood's picture

Quit trying to rain on

Quit trying to rain on Halles' parade. She got an oscar for her role in Monster's Ball. Just as Denzel Washington received as Oscar for playing a thief, murderer and cheating husband. Are you going to down talk Denzel??? They are actors in hollywood doing their jobs so stop throwing shade. As for Angela Bassett. She was extremley jealous of Halle Berry receiving an oscar nomination and winning. I remember when the entertainment reporters were talking to her about the oscar nominees and when they talked about Halle she just stood there with this plastic smile on her face and didn't say anything. Yes, she deserves an oscar as well. But hating on Halle or anyone that has an Oscar won't make it happen.

And Denzel got his Oscar for

And Denzel got his Oscar for being a corrupt cop, whats your point? The only people that complain so much about Halle's role in Monstars Ball are black people not cultured enough to understand the true meaning behind her character. Halle got her Oscar for playing a character far from herlsef, which is what acting is.
AnonyMiss's picture

Halle's gorgeous and
