Rosie Perez was injured shooting an episode of  'Law & Order: SVU'. The scene called for an extra to physically shake Perez, who says she felt a pain in her neck afterwards and wanted to stop. The actress continued to do two more takes and immediately knew something serious was wrong.

Perez had a slipped disc and a bulging disc.

Her year long search for an alternative other than surgery failed and Perez endured a bone marrow and neck surgery. The surgeries left the actress with large scars on her neck and hip.

Perez scheduled her surgery around an invitation to the White House by President Obama to formulate a strategy to attack AIDS. Perez, an enthusiastic AIDS activist, made the trip but was unable to walk.  She was also wearing a neck brace that limited her mobility. 

The president asked Perez what happened and she explained she was injured performing a stunt. President Obama responded, "Don't you know they have professionals for that?" The actress said that she likes to do her own stunts and the President joked, "Obviously, you're not that good at it."

Serena Williams won't be able to play tennis because of a foot injury. The Wimbledon champion cancelled her match against former top ranked Martina Hingis, saying she cut her foot a few days ago. When asked how she was able to play last Thursday, Williams responded, "Those Belgian doctors and waffles." She is unsure of when she will be able to play again.

Fans however, are not happy about this decision. Serena is currently a member of the Washington Kastles of World TeamTennis, a summer pro league. Her team has matches this week in New York, Washington, and New York. Fans paid between $29-$75 to watch her play and some are asking for their money back.
