Lance Gross & Regina King Talk Our Family Wedding

The YBF has got a featurette from the press interviews for the upcoming movie Our Family Wedding . It's starring cutie Lance Gross & the fab America Ferrera and Regina King.

What's the movie about?: Lucia (America Ferrera) and Marcus (Lance Gross) learn the hard way that the path to saying "I do" can be rife with familial strife. When they return from college and too suddenly announce their marriage plans, they soon discover that their fathers - two highly competitive over-the-top egos - can wreak a major amount of havoc on their special day. With insults flying and tempers running high, it's anyone's guess if the alpha dads (Forest Whitaker and Carlos Mencia) will survive to make it down the aisle in one piece. Lucia's mother (Diana Maria Riva) is busy planning the wedding of "her" dreams and the only levelheaded one in the bunch is Angela (Regina King), the groom's father's best friend and lawyer, who manages to keep her cool when the madness reaches a crescendo. A wedding with race issues--I'll so be seeing this. Let the drama and funnies begin. Our Family Wedding is in theaters everywhere Friday, March 12th. Sponsored by Fox Searchlight Pictures

Nothing to do with the race tension, just the fact that Carlos Mencia is in it and the trailers look like a bunch of tired old wedding drama jokes and frat boy type humor. And in what world do Lance Gross or America Ferrara look like kids just out of college?

In "Hitch" Will wanted Halle to play his love interest but they didn't think it would sell. He was furious. It's the same thing with Halle being cast opposite white men. The entertainment industry has always been racist and small minded. But this movie looks funny so I'm gonna see it.

America is a good actress, so

America is a good actress, so this doesn't bother me. There are racial issues between blacks and Spanish people so this movie is realistic. The whole cast is full of great actors. This is a huge movie for Lance too. This will open more doors for him.

gonna pass - the movie industry doesn't respect our dollars. blk men, wht men, latino men are not going to waste $ on this film and the industry knows it -- but they are banking on sistas to rush to the theatre to soak in their message that blk women are incapable of love yet again ... that's why sisters are very rarely the love interest ... and the love interest of another blk man -- you would be hard press to see that anytime soon. i'm just sayin ... pass.

I think America was cast for

I think America was cast for crossover purposes opposite Lance. You can make more money both domestically and internationally if the movie is not pigeonholed as "black." Remember what happened with Hitch and Will Smith -- Eva Mendes was cast in order instead, say, of Will's accomplished wife Jada, to increase the movie's crossover appeal. These days, there's a ton of pressure to earn back the movie's cost and more. Having said that, I'll probably wait for Netflix. I only want to see two theatrical releases this year: SATC II and Bitch is the New Black.

I do like the younger actors

I do like the younger actors but...and trust me I hate to bring it up...I'm not really into see these couple where the black man isn't with the black woman. I know that adds to the plot of the movie but I'm just sick of it. So since money talks, I'll keep mine in my pocket until something changes. No angry, just tired and I could care less. Since I can't find a movie with the blk woman as the main squeeze, (not bestie, homie, advisor to the main sqeeze, single with no father of the children) I will hold tightly to my hard earned money. Until I get some proper representation. Don't care about me...us...don't care about those dollars. Now if we could all just commit to that, we'd see some changes. Money talks. Nothing else does.
