Halle Berry Grabs Groceries+Celebs Party It Up

Look who's got a new cropped and curly coif: Halle Berry was spotted leaving a Whole Foods in Toronto, Canada yesterday.  She just bought a $1.6 mill lakeside property home in Quebec to be closer to her boyfriend/babydaddy Gabriel Aubry’s family.  Sweet.  And she's looking quite laid back and fab grabbing groceries. Pics of Keisha Knight Pulliam and Q-Tip partying it up when you read the rest... Keisha Knight Pulliam hit up Q-Tip and D-Nice hosted this past weekend in Atlanta "A Crown Royal Affair" for Morehouse/Spelman's Homecoming weekend. Folks partied it up on Saturday with not only Crown Royal drinks, but also spades, dominoes, and a professional barber who was on hand to give haircuts. Fun times all around.

I was disheartened by them and (unnaturally) lashed out, because it is NOT just about putting down Halle's hair...it is about allowing most women of color be stigmatized because of the way THEIR HAIR NATURALLY GROWS OUT OF THEIR HEADS and if they don't burn their scalps every 6 to 8 weeks to make their hair look like the hair that typically grows out of a EUROPEAN scalp, they will be LESS LIKELY to get a job, to be promoted, to have health insurance, to not die from stress related heart disease. This is some real sh!t, but if you want to play, we can play... We can go back and forth, but your comments reveal your stupidity over the most basic concepts, but, I'll give it a go... I love the way you clump coarse, nappy hair with savage living... "All Africans have coarse, nappy hair and walk around with leaves covering their private parts." ---quote from you, the fool. Holding on to those Eastern Africans and their hair texture? Does their hair texture gives you license to deny a CLEARLY basic trait of Africans? That's a shame. If you knew anything about the world, you would know that if you asked the Egyptians, Somalians or Ethiopians, if they were Black, you would get a different answer every time. You see Black is not beautiful everywhere on the planet, and it was my intention to point out how it clearly is not so beautiful to some people on this site based on the comments on this page. FROM WOMEN, no less! Some black folk in this country have blue eyes and some whites have brown...does that mean that a black person with blue eyes should freak out because a black person was heard claiming that blacks typically have brown eyes? Must I go any further re: your hair texture "argument"? I don't use words like coarse or nappy...I love my hair, reflect... Halle's hair does not look like a wig to me, it looks exactly like my hair, just a different color, but even if it did not look exactly like mine, I would fight FOR it... You fight AGAINST it. You fight against what that hair means and that's a shame. If that is indeed her hair, clearly, it reveals her African heritage..., but you deny this type of hair as indicator of African roots. Question, where did that hair come from, her mama? Did her mother's family live in the aboriginal outback? Was her "pappy" Samoan? Like, what are you talking about? Clearly "Read This", you are no member of MENSA...shocking.
I understand exactly what you are saying..I'm blue eyed African American..It's actually common sense but sad that we in 2008 are still talking about this. Black ppl come in all colors,shapes,sizes..but the darker skin or kinkier hair gets the bad rap. It's beautiful and ppl need to realize that the years of brainwashing from slavery has done this. This will be a never ending battle, because of how deeply routed this pain is. Moms need to start training their kids right on this issue, because it seems that the trait of this self hatred is learned and taught from birth. Whether or not..her hair is real or fake. Halle is a gorgeous woman..It's just hair..She'll probably change it soon and life goes on.. :) PEACE

Leave her alone. Her hair is

Leave her alone. Her hair is nicer short but "to each is own". I happen to like natural hair and long hair isn't a sign of "beauty". You can be beautiful with long, short, in between, weaved-up, braids, afro-puffs, whatever hair your are rocking. I am perplexed however, when some women believe the only way to be beautiful is with long hair flowing down your back. I have short /natural hair and 2 years from 40; many men including my husband find me HOT! :)Its all about positive self-image.

I wear my hair natural. Most times it looks like Halle's. However, I have to agree with many people who have said that they like the short cut on Halle. A short style is really becoming on her. Some people look nice with this style (wash n go curly afro)....some don't. But if this is how she chooses to wear HER hair then she is completely entitled to do so and REALLY that is ALL that matters. Like the old adage goes, "Opinions are like A$$es. Everybody has one."

You've said nothing offensive, so I would not expect a battle with readers of this site. Others have made disparaging remarks that should be rightly addressed to the harsh critics of Halle's hair. A quote like, "What in the kinky hell?" is something I need say something about. Just because people are defending Halle Berry's African textured looking hair, does not make them militant and feral jumping down the throats of anyone who does not "feel" Halle's hair, but it does make the defenders clear. Clear on the symbolism and real world meaning behind the "hair-hatred" expressed in such vile ways on this page. That's all...no big whoop. I'm done...officially! I think...

Also, what is the big deal with most of us not liking that big curly mess?
Then you don't know black women... For those of us who went through the process when it was the hot thing to do, many of us were shocked to see exactly what hair type we had. Some of us were wavy and didn't know it...big curls or little curls. Your average everyday face of an African-American is not likely to be found on the continent, because African-American features are a mix of their European and African descendants. It is really amazing. If you call yourself African-American, then you're most likely mixed...your hair texture is a big indicator of that, but if you've been processing your hair since you were a child, which is usually the case, you don't have a clue what's really going on up there. As I said before, my hair has EXACTLY the same texture as the hair Halle has "on"... Difference? Color and probably "how it feels". Did Halle Berry have a weave in Boomerang? Cause that hair was not naturally straight...Halle had roots and had clearly relaxed her thick hair.

Most East Africans don't have straight hair anyway I don't know why people think that. Example Baby Zahara.

It looks as if Halle washed her hair and let it air dry. I’m annoyed when people named “Sarah” decide that African features are just not their “cup of tea”. …how about you don’t get it and it’s none of your business. I’m never this terse, but this really pisses me off. You’re ignorant. ------------------------------------------- Actually, you're ignorant...it's ignorant black women like you that stand behind the "All africans have coarse, nappy hair and walk around with leaves covering their private parts. You don't have to be rejecting your ancestry just because you dont get down with Halle's hair...How about me? An African American woman with bone straight hair...how about Egyptians, Somalians, Ethiopians? Ignorant you are. Before you want to lash out and say what pisses you off, realize how you're stereotyping and grouping an entire continent of people.
Okay "Read This", I couldn't believe the sassy comments. What the f**k is with the comments re Halle's hair? To me, that looks like her natural hair. In case you bitches didn't notice, Halle's daddy was BLACK and I'm sure she's got curly hair! Whats wrong with a woman wearing her natural hair?

I know I am going to get a lot of hate for saying this sorry. But Halle's reminds me of Sideshow Bob from the Simpsons show with that hair. P.S. I am not hating I just stating my opinion that's all.

Anyone dare to think that

Anyone dare to think that Halle's new "hair" might actually be for a new movie role? (remember when she was sporting the pseudo dreds all out and about hollywood when she was making the movie "Bulworth," with Warren Beatty?)

If you don't like what I have to say, read my comment and keep it moving.
Ignore that person. They like to go through the whole comment section and pick someone to comment on *rolleyes* Your comment was in no way negative and obviously you were adding onto why you think it's her hair. Judging by their screenname, must be self-hate.
How is someone going to ask that when the whole purpose of this blog is to read the posts and THEN LEAVE A COMMENT? LOL. And anyway, all these negative comments about Halle's hair aren't surprising, an overwhelming precent of black women still use the "creamy crack."

damn talk about black on

damn talk about black on black crime, no wonder there's so much trouble in black america...is halle's hairstyle that serious? It looks like her own unprocessed curly hair..."wash and go" indeed. It's cool, but a more flattering cut/style would probably work better. i dig it better than the weave. but halle can just about do anything and still look good.
