Say what you want, but booking catalog work is not going backwards. Models make better money doing a couple hours of catalog shoots than they do walking the runway. You only get the big bucks on the runway if you are famous and in demand, like Naomi. Its not hi-fashion but its fashion.

I just received a catalogue in the mail last week and guess who I saw in there. I saw Mercedes from America's Next Top Model Season 1. She was the second runner up, I believe. And I also saw NICOLE ARI PARKER!! Yall know who she is...Boris Kodjoe's wife. Nicole is an established actress so maybe the catalogue work isnt that bad if she accepted a job. We need to stop being so hard on the top models in this industry...hell look at the actresses that are doing catalogue work...What does that say about them?

I saw NICOLE ARI PARKER (an actress and she wanst on the cover...she was just a "catalogue model" like the rest of them) in a very recent catalogue. At least the top models are doing SOMETHING related to modeling. They are not shaking their ass to a degrading song in a video and calling that "modeling." They are not taking their clothes off for a magazine or a XXX movie and calling that modeling. I am proud of all the top model girls. I am especially proud of the ones that do work like Dani, Jaslene, Tocarra, Eva, Yaya, and so on...

Couldn't have said it better myself. These are some THIRSTY chicks. But if they are waiting on us to buy their "memoirs", they probably should make their way to the bar and get a drink because otherwise they will dehydrate. For Dani and Jaslene, I guess some work is better than no work. At least they aren't giving up, so you've got to give them props for staying on the grind and working diligently to remain relevant.

The ANTM girls, whether winners or losers, actually get a lot of work...Just because we don't see them in our faces all the time, doesn't mean they aren't making money! Modeling is very profitable, and you don't have to be on the cover of Vogue or Elle to be doing well.

I wouldn't say Mos Def's ex wife is THIRSTY. From the book description above, it doesnt seem like she is gonna have a Karrine Stephens type tell all book. -------------- BTW, I read Karrine's first book. Is it just me or does she write like an 8th grader? I was disappointed by the writing alone. Probably if she graduated Highschool and began college, her "craft" would be more defined. She needs writing classes.

I love AMTM, but these girls are not in it to be high fashion models. Most of them don't know who the important people are in the industry, the lingo, etc. They just know that somebody told them they were cute and want to be on t.v. living in that fab house. Also, none of the winners so far have that high fashion "it" thing going on, so I suggest they take advantage of the fame and get in where they fit in, whether that be catalogs, straight to dvd movies, reality shows, so be it. As for Tyra telling them what to do after the show, that's ridiculous. She's telling them to do DURING the show. If they don't have enough initative and hustle to get there career started at that point, that's on them. WIth winning the show, the CoverGirl contract and the actual modelling contract, if they can't make it at that point, they don't deserve to.
